Plan to move beyond just a 401k in 2022. I just opened a Charles Schwab account (mainly so I can get the CS Plat for the MR cash out option). Is there a reason not to use them as my brokerage? I know people love fidelity and vanguard, Google shows they’re all on par basically. Thoughts?

Schwab is fine. I think it is generally included with fidelity and vanguard in the big 3

Haven’t really begun looking into it yet. I also want to purchase a home soon so I’m debating on just saving all my spare cash in a savings for ‘22, and then branching out in 2023.

No reason…it’s mostly about preference. It is on par with Vanguard and Fidelity.

I don’t get it: Why would anyone invest, for example, in a 6% dividend yield etf with a 0.50% ER (ie EMHY) instead of a 9% dividend yield etf with a 2.5 ER (ie YYY)? Wouldn’t you still be getting better results with the expensive one?

I am leaving retail pharmacy after 15 years. I am opening a 403b pharmacy for a FQHC. I don't believe that retail pharmacy will be able to sustain itself with patient costs skyrocketing. How many times do we see people getting free prescriptions via government coverage that drive better cars than we do?

$530k HHI, $250k cash on hand, $1.2M investments/retirement. Plan to buy $800-900k house as our first home, but thinking of the best approach given rates today. My thinking is that we (i) put $200k+ down and get a 5/1 ARM. (ii) put everything we save moving forward toward paying down the principal (after maximizing retirement accounts). Should be able to do $100k per year. (iii) If rates go down below 4.5ish % for 15 year fixed, refinance and stop aggressive payment. Thoughts on this approach?
