Please help! Recently did a Mega back door Roth conversion from after tax (401k) to Roth IRA in fidelity. Put 4K of gains in the traditional IRA and 19k of contributions in the Roth IRA. I also plan to do another back door Roth of 6k in 2022 of Jan. Did I transfer funds properly? And does the traditional IRA balance need to be zero to do future conversions?

Getting married in September, have a vax only policy for guests. My fiancé’s sister is bringing her unvaccinated spouse to the hotel where all the wedding festivities are being held b/c she is too scared to fly on an airplane without him. I find this incredibly uncomfortable and selfish given it will put me and my fiancé in an uncomfortable position (and it will also put my elderly parents and other vulnerable fam members at risk). I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. I have a Fidelity Brokeragelink account for my 401k. Every other year I switch from pre and post tax contributions. My money is spread over 3 ETFs currently. Does anyone know how this is tracked? Say if $100k is traditional 401k and $100k is Roth 401k, but they’re mixed, how can Fidelity track what funds are Roth/traditional? If I’m up 300% in ARKK, how can I or anyone else at fidelity tell if the cost basis was pre or post tax contributions?
