Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

I really think there's got to be a better way other than just outright banning an app that not only has millions of dedicated users, but also tens of thousands of creators who rely on that platform for their livelihood. I'd much prefer tighter regulations or maybe a buyout. Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with allowing a backdoor for China to spy on us, but I just think the answer isn't so black and white.
Nobody wants China having a “Back door” to our data, I’m just not convinced that that’s even actually the issue, or that China even can access data from TikTok the way a lot of congress wants us to think they can.
Chief
Free speech doesn’t mean that I should be cool with sharing my private data with the Chinese government . Just like freedom to fly balloons doesn’t mean that they should start taking pictures of military sites
People should know that western world has already banned tiktok from government devices because of security issues. TikTok has deliberately suppressed posts related to Uyghur or anything anti CCP. They have admitted to sending some US data to Chinese data centers.
With that said , maybe we should think before doing something that will cause China to ban US apps like Netflix, Facebook, Google and many others …steal their tech and create a copy of that for the Chinese market…oh wait
You may want to actually look at countless investigative articles on tiktok practices , golden share that CCP has and their commitment to Chinese intelligence agencies as per the Chinese law
If they want to stay associated with CCP, it’s their choice. The bill is asking them to clearly separate themselves from a hostile government and continue operating in the US market.
LOL if you think your data isn’t already in the hands of the Chinese, you’re delusional. It’s 2024. Our data & privacy was sold LONG ago in exchange for convenience. It’s in the teeeeeny tiiiiiny print at the bottom of every agreement since the early 2000s. Additionally, esp after the last 4 years, if you think this Govt gives a rats’ ass about your data then you are just willfully ignorant. Either way, the idea that banning Tiktok is purely to protect us is a giant pile of 💩. Period.
With all the social media apps that we all use, including Fishbowl, you really think that TikTok is the only one that’s the issue? Like of course nobody wants China getting our data or whatever, but I just think that’s such a vague concern with not a ton of facts backing it up.
Thanks I know 💅🏻
