I had to quit the day of without notice to my old job because of the no competition clauses with a new company I got hired at, it was VERY satisfying
Pretty standard in the trading world, the idea is you have sensitive competitive market data that will become stale after the garden leave.

I consider myself fiscally conservative but still believe we should invest at least something in the next generation.
It all depends on the age of the person from what I’ve seen with the generations under 35 they basically treat corporate Life like fast food and feel that they can get what they want whenever they want and exhibit a lack of professionalism to the likes of which are comical it’s not all of them mind you but a fairly high amount. Over 35 - look at that employee and see how he was treated, usually they’re overworked, underpaid, undervalued, and commonly work for an @$$hole.
Previous gig I had a Sys admin walk into a server room with scissors snip a few network lines and quit. Unfortunately for him that impulse action hurt him for the next 3 years trying to find another job.
I’ve done it. Actually myself and a girl I worked with did it together. We came in around 8 at night, emptied our desk and schedule our resignation letter to be delivered to our crappy boss and her boss at 8 am. Her boss (the owner) called us both the next day and text asking why we left. She didn’t respond but I did explaining our boss was a horrible women who treated employees like crap. Hopefully they got rid of her.
I’ve seen a whole team of people quit at my old job within the same month after being under new management. They all left in different ways, but it all happened so fast.
This literally happened earlier this year when I took over a team. The old leader scared everyone away in an effort to keep his job. Now it’s just he and I…but I’m looking for ways out. Sad part is, I was blamed for the exodus because of the title I held. Toxic environment doesn’t start to scratch the surface.
Seen it. Finished a meeting with boss and sales manager, sales manager got told by boss he should’ve finished something over the weekend bc he had the time.. yeah he left after that meeting lol. He seems to be doing much better now.
Our boss after that was very careful about what he asked us to do. (He knows he doesn’t pay enough) small company.
The best is when it happens on a business trip.
I've seen people waiting to go on a long business trip for training, having another job aligned and then quitting right after coming back. Just spectacular for everyone else.

Sounds like the dream. I’ve seen multiple companies layoff people with zero notice and no real reason. Why can’t we give them the same courtesy?
Yes, came in for a job and they had me waiting for hours to be briefed on a machine that didn't work. I did have a machine that worked, but someone else was on that one because theirs wasn't working. They had put me on that machine instead of fixing it. This was after years of regular project bookings and having 3 machines I got working properly taken and given to new hires. I had just had enough and told the person next to me to tell them that I quit. My other coworker followed me out and took me out for a drink. For those few hours, they thought my coworker had quit as well and were freaking out. They did ask me to come back. I declined.
Yes. I know someone who sent an email and stated “I quit”, locked their computer, and walked out. Never heard or saw them again. This was at like 2pm on a Tuesday.

Ironically… one of my coworkers did this last week.
As a law student “summer associate,” I took a smoke break my first day and then just split and never looked back. I did leave a message on the answering machine that night. In my defense, there were extenuating circumstances — the day began with everyone holding hands for a prayer circle. And I was advised by a co-worker that things were a little lax that day because the managing partner was on the road. I may not have done my due diligence before accepting that position. Fortunately, this was early enough that I was able to jump into summer school and take a class that summer instead.
Yes, my coworker did this at my first “real” job out of college. I was shocked in the moment, but he just saw the writing on the wall before me. I left a few months later myself.
I’m surprised more people aren’t doing this tbh. Most employers treat employees like nothing but a number or cog in the wheel keeping their investors and higher ups happy while churning out the midnight oil and dealing with all the stress. I get that two weeks notice is the proper procedure in most cases, but do most employers give you two weeks before firing you? Probably not.
