Best self-care tips for dealing with loneliness/sadness this time of year? This is my first Christmas without my mom and it just feels like nothing will ever be the same again 😭. If you’ve lost a parent can you give me advice on getting through the holidays? Being a parentalish figure to my students is both healing and heartbreaking.

I just started parental leave for 12 weeks, but a new job opportunity just came up. What do I do if I get an offer? Do I tell my boss before I come back from leave, or do I just resign on my first day back?

I had IVF process to get pregnant. During pre- embryo transfer we were told that girl embryo is being transferred. Currently I am 18 week pregnant. I had anatomy scan and we found out we are having a boy. Baby looked all healthy but due to gender discrepancy, We are asked to do additional testing and genetic disorder screening. Anyone had similar experience?

I have got Gurgaon as base location in offer letter. But since I lost a parent(my father) and relocating is kind of not possible for me at this moment can I ask them to relocate me to Kolkata?

This question may not be related. However I wanted to know from personal and family point of view how it is like to relocate from India and live abroad .
Let's say Family consists of husband , wife and a kid . I understand we will get good facilities, education, cleanliness , good air etc , however I wanted to check whether people gel up easily in the new environment? Don't they feel loneliness/ difficult to adjust? Do they look for similar asian nationalities to kill boredom?

Asking for a friend - anyone staying in a marriage just for the kid(s)?

It's not like the marriage is terrible or unhealthy, but they would take an out if not for having had the kids.

I will be joining IBM next week in Bangalore ( physical onboarding ) and my hometown is in West bengal , My father is having health problems , mother won't be able to handle everything and no such person we can rely on . Also I am getting married in January . Hence If i stay in Bangalore there will be no one to take responsibility for my marriage prep also . If i convey to my ibm manager will they consider for 4months of WFH?Any documents may have to show?

Should I break up with my girlfriend? We have been dating for close to 2 years and there are some things that have irked me (her lack of care around finances, talks about her exes, super insecure about her looks (complained to me when she was drunk last Friday how no guys bought her drinks, I wasn’t there), has a terrible relationship with her mom and dad and gets upset when I go out for the weekend to hangout with my mom (father died horribly last year and she has been alone). One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.

Really kind of shocking that management would bring in three pretty conservative speakers. I mean, we know where Rob and they stand, but I thought MYJourney was about building us up as leaders and finding what makes us happy and succeed, not just throwing politics right in our face.
