I’m not sure how this will impact this bowl, but it is worth pointing out the need to assess whether there should be concern for those in this bowl. While we all understand ADHD is something attorneys are completely capable of managing with legal positions, not everyone in the field agrees with that. https://joinfishbowl.com/post_va66ztgmkw

Use the Cozi app to create a shared grocery and chore list with your spouse.
Color code things so your brain doesn’t have to take the extra time to read labels.
I have several different kinds (and colors) of pens depending on my mood so I stay entertained with my writing instrument choice.
Use practice management software.
I have three monitors and I watch movies or tv series on one (and that typically gets covered up with work so I end up just listening). Once I get in the groove I zone it out, but it helps me sit still until I get in the zone. Also, it helps me get back in the zone if I get out of it. Finally, the natural break when it’s over reminds me to take a break, too.
omg, thank you so much for posting this! I also like to work with a tv show I've seen a million times in the background on my iPad. I always felt some guilt at doing this, thinking "I shouldn't have tv on at work" but 90% of the time I am just listening, and it does help keep me focused and get me in the zone. So glad to know I'm not alone in this. :D
A simple mantra I learned recently: separate the deciding from the doing.
This is most applicable for me on the household/food front.
Author, have you tried framing your deciding to make the doing easier? Like, I’ll decide that I’ll focus on a file next Tuesday, and in order to do that I’ll decide to block off the whole day, but to schedule a couple small check ins related to the file during the day (if I am delegating bits of this). Or I might do something like start the cover email for the process, and send it to myself with a delayed delivery so that it pops up and starts me going.
You know how emails are distracting? Strategically deploying delayed delivery emails against yourself to arrive when you have time blocked off for a specific task may help.
Try the standing desk and compact treadmill combo. I was a bit skeptical of it at first if it really was as effective as people said it was, but I've come to love it! I get to focus on my work better and I hardly ever work without it.
For my home office, I invested in a standing desk and an ergonomic office chair. That's pretty much where I spent money on so I could function well. Also bought a few acrylic organizers, label-maker, sticky notes, and an acrylic calendar. Oh and also bought a shelving unit from ikea where I could store everything away (they are all sorted out). Oh and also bought a do not disturb door sign so my kids know that it's work time for me; lesser distractions.
Getting a standing desk and ergonomic chair has definitely helped. Also the stand notifications on my Apple Watch! Forces me to focus a bit more and I can use my stand break to do cleaning/chores. Am trying to figure out the right balance now
My immediate work area has to be clean before I start work. Everything I need is out of reach. So, I have to bring what I need for the day, or the task to my desk. If I need something else, I have to get up to get it.
I also have Alexa (for personal) and Google Assistant (for business) situated so that no matter where I am, I can brain dump to do and shopping lists.
I love Microsoft To Do - I can flag an email right in outlook then it will populate on my to do list - then I check off in to do and it clears the flag. I organize my to dos by client and also use for keeping all my flagged emails to follow up on together. I’ve found the only way I can keep up with a million tasks is something seamlessly integrated into my normal workflow
Same. But with Google.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and recommendations 🤗
As far as standing desks go, any specific brand or place to look? So far I have only searched Amazon, but there are so many options.
