I started randomly dry heaving and almost vomiting in the recent weeks several times on different days. Nothing’s changed except a new job that’s been stressful. Anyone have this? I have a vomit reaction when I’m under a lot of stress but it’s usually just a one time thing and it doesn’t happen again. This has gone on for nearly 10x over 3 weeks and I’m getting worried.

It sounds like severe anxiety to me. Maybe you’re not fully aware of it but it’s still there under the surface. Have you tried talking with a doctor or therapist?

like

I’m really sorry to hear that your company hasn’t been supporting you with your conditions - I hope you’re able to get the medical help you need and find supportive people at your firm

Give your dr a call.

I had this during a really stressful time (crazy project plus a baby at home). You should ask your doctor but if ends up being stress-related, just know you are not alone

like

Yup. I get this and it is a tough experience. My doctor put me on Xanax and it works but I just didn’t like the after effects of it so I picked up meditation and it has helped a lot. Also actively looking for a therapist. Just know you’re not alone in this and you will get through it!

Some teams ( in every org) have a very toxic culture. seems you are in one of those teams.

The only thing you can do is move out to a different team or organization before they start killing your confidence

I am mid career gen X and I had this for the first time in my life during the pandemic. I thought it was food poisoning initially but looking back it was more likely an anxiety attack. I just couldn't face the overwhelming workload I didn't know how to solve or resolve. Finally got through it but I am much quicker on the push back and escalation now.

I’ve been telling her X items are at risk of delivery too and she hasn’t backed down or tried to understand.

Perhaps this isnt the right role or industry for you. Put your health before all else. Good luck!

What misconceptions do you think people have about social work? or therapy?
Mine is my family still believes that only "sick" or unhappy people need to see a therapist, so they don't understand why I go to one since I have a job and a family. It's oldschool thinking and pretty annoying tbh.

Went for a pre-employment drug test yesterday. They never asked me if I was on any medications. I had to ask them and was told "oh yeah, just put any you may think make a difference in this text box." I put Xanax, Flexeril, and gabapentin. All of which are prescribed and used as directed. Now I'm terrified that I should have put ALL my meds, to including my psych meds. I've been sober over 12 years and never touched drugs (just booze) but I'm having a full blown panic attack.

Advice and/or consolation anyone? My wife and I (both above average health 30year olds) were trying for 11 months before getting pregnant and then had a week 5 early miscarriage a few months back. If the stress and surprise of just how difficult it apparently is to get pregnant wasn’t enough, the miscarriage put us over. We got back to it and have been trying for the last 2 months again, still no luck. We’re freaking out… all we want is a family. Any similar stories? Advice? 😢

I just left my pre-seed startup that was running out of cash (we made $100,000 in revenue this year, and sunk $1m in costs). I was making $40,000 as a developer (plus 20k stock options at $1/share per year) and they refused to pay me any more money. I have 17,000 vested stock options, total number of shares at the time of my contract was 4million. I’m a bit confused about share dilution and if it’s worth it for me to buy some of my stock options… thanks in adv!
