Yes, the manager went berserk for no apparent good reason the other day. In his defense the associate in question is so dense she would make Jesus cuss. However, as I told the manager after the department meeting, there is never a reason to talk to a woman like that, especially in public. The associate is conscientious but lacks much common sense and sometimes has a problem connecting the dots when we try to explain something to her. I told the manager he needs to call a special department meeting and then apologize to her during the meeting. Whenever there's a dust-up between associates, they usually pull me into the middle of it to referee. I think it's because I'm an ordained deacon, so they trust that I won't play favorites and will be focused on reaching the best compromise to resolve the dispute.
That’s just totally unacceptable. You can’t just go off on your peers like that.
No I have not and if it did happen I would feel extremely uncomfortable. Those types of things should be handled in private not in public. I am sure the employee who was getting berated was also super embarrassed.
I see. I’m glad you haven’t experienced this before.
I've been yelled at by my boss at the time and that was the last straw for me to realize that he was actually abusive. I reported the incident to HR and after a year of his increasingly erratic behavior coming to light, he was dismissed. We all have bad days and strong opinions and frustrations in our job. Part of being an adult is handling those without taking out your emotions on people around you.
Man, I’m glad he was dismissed. I feel as though managers like this get away with everything as they have friends in HR or they are untouchable. Glad it worked out for you.
