Question about remote job negotiations

I'm currently interviewing for a remote role for a company based in NY.

The thing is I'm based in a different city (southern U.S.)

My question is:

When it comes time to talk compensation, should I base the market rate for the role on my city of residence or NY?

Would it make sense to ask them directly how they determine comp for NY-bases vs. other city-based employees?

Anyone have experience with this?

I recently moved from California to Pennsylvania and am job searching and my resume is all California. I was on a call with a recruiter for a remote job and they assumed I still lived in CA. When discussing salary, the range I gave them they said was fine since I live in CA and I had to tell them that I live in PA now. He did some calculations and then quoted me a number that was $25k/yr less for the same job. How much leverage do you think I have to negotiate back up to that original figure?

Prepping to leave company paying newbie male with 2 YoE in my dept with same title 37% more than me- I am a former international nonprofit comms director w 10YoE - I took remote job posted by a friend/ marketing dir. for what turned out to be a dumpster fire company breaking labor laws + lying about its ops, staff, and product. I wanted to grow my marketing skills and stay thru COVID. The dir. friend hired me bc he was merely a graphic designer. Need career counseling from someone inside field.

I wish I could get a remote job for an agency in CA, that way I don’t need to move to a super expensive place but could sneak in a few “trips to visit the office”.

Please share your thoughts, experiences, and first hand knowledge about fully remote employment as an attorney. I see more remote jobs than ever and am considering a switch as I'm a parent in a state with terrible compensation. I hope I can where I'm at and work remotely with compensation from larger markets. I've seen friends thrive in the model, but aren't attorneys.

I’m in an interview process and I made it to the final stages. I really need to have a remote job, meanwhile this one is hybrid. The managers seem nice and flexible but how do I go about making this in my final offer letter if I make it that far?

This is going to sound weird but does anyone feel like they got too fat from the pandemic and is having anxiety about going back into the office? I’m probably gained like 100lbs and I’m here thinking I rather apply for a wfh job than go back in and look like a slob. I dunno maybe it’s just me. Thoughts?

Im making $120k right now with about 3 YOE. Background is strategy, sales, and analytics. Im getting loads of interviews for in person roles where TC would land between $150-180k and that’s great.
