Virtual Meetings Discussions

My network seems to have a delay and so when I speak up during zoom calls I end up interrupting others. Any advice or thoughts on how I can approach this or “politely interrupt” others?

Do you/your team members ever use a platform that's not company sanctioned? We like Slack but the company has everyone on Teams. We communicate with other people on Teams and it doesn't harm our productivity but we just work really well on Slack within ourselves. Don't know if that's a problem.

Zoom interviews with a tech company tomorrow- wear a suit? Or just a blouse? 30yo woman.

Feel like my team's Slack channel is bombarded with way too much personal stuff or commentary, or gossip about other teams. I'm not a manager or anything and don't want to be a spoilsport. I think if I said something they wouldn't change anyway - it's pretty much everyone but me and one other colleague that does it. Help?

After 3 zoom meetings, I’ve been invited to meet with all the head honchos in-person at the company I applied to. I’m excited and scared, and I’m not sure how to make the meeting great. I haven’t had to interview in a long time and this is a great position, but also a new position. Any suggestions for how to make a great presentation? Any advice would be helpful!

Male here with 2 zoom interviews this week. 1 internal and 1external. Both roles in financial services.
Any tips for zoom interviews? Dress in full business attire for both interviews? Or just the external one?

need to do a timeline with lots of information over a long period of time. I wanted to that in Tableau, but partner will not pay license and data is sensitive so I cannot use Tableau public.
Do you have suggestions?
The requirements are the following:
- No online input data upload (so local editing)
- The produced output file must be local and easily exportable and readable
-timeline must be interactive (filter/click/zoom in/out/view detals etc.)
- free

With many areas starting to open back up again, including courthouses, what is everyone’s thoughts on hearing attendance via zoom being allowed once fully back open? Do you think it will remain available as an option? Maybe allowed if both parties stipulate to it?

Never seem to hear from any people working on Webex. Is it a good gig?

Two R1 Zoom interviews - one went well and the other not so well. Think it was a good cop bad cop situation. Do they factor in both interviews 50-50?

Some context: I just joined a new firm and new project within the past couple weeks but have a week of PTO planned for next week.


A coworker was sharing screen over Zoom with me yesterday and I inadvertently saw his open Teams chat with my manager. In the Teams chat I could see not great things being said about me getting stuck on problems at work and already being in a PTO state of mind. Do you think it’s worth bringing up to manager as someone that’s legitimately trying their best to ramp

How do people stay engaged in virtual trainings? Im in a course I really want to pick up but having so many issues learning from zoom

Is it okay if I use my work teams app for an interview? I’m running into issues with my personal computer on Microsoft Teams and I don’t have time to fix before my interview.

For a Zoom BCG interview in London: the dress code is ‘smart casual.’ Is a smart polo 👕 acceptable? I look good in it but just want to make sure it doesn’t seem too informal.

I understand that the Covid vaccine can hit the body hard and everyone reacts differently. I’m empathic, truly, and was fortunate to have minor symptoms. But I’m am one of 23 on my extended team who didn’t schedule their vax appts during work hours and didn’t call off for one to two days after. Statistically, 1/23 without extreme symptoms isn’t unbelievable by any measure. But, when I’m constantly picking up the slack my more critical mind is like: 🤔🧐🤨

I record zoom meetings using phone voice memos, or use the timer, to keep a running tally on the amount of time chatty extroverts take up in zoom meetings either talking about random topics before starting or derailing the meeting with non-relevant verbal diarrhea. So far the average for a 30 min meeting when one of these people are on the call is ~5 min to start and ~2.5 min unnecessary swirling/grandstanding.

For those of you that accepted a job during COVID, how many rounds of interviews did you have? I feel like Zoom is making it too easy for hiring companies to bombard candidates with excessive rounds of interviews. I just want a job already 😅

If you're fairly visible, either in a big company or as a founder or industry leader, how much of your personal life do you share? Down to: do you use backgrounds when you're on Zoom to cover up your living room? Jeff Bezos here. (jk)

Zoom all day and sitting on my butt seems to make some hip issues flare up (despite daily workouts). Anybody else dealing with "Zoom ass"!?

In (Zoom) court with first appearance for a case I took over from a colleague. Never met client in person, so this our first interaction and she’s side texting me selfies in lingerie and requested to “chill” after. Told her I’m married and she’s still pushing. Looks like this case is going back to my colleague. Is there any CYAs I’m missing?

I have back to back meetings from 9:30am to 7pm with a luckily 1 hour gap to make lunch and multi tasking during meetings to get work done. After a few weeks of this I’m having Zoom fatigue.

Microsoft Teams is driving me crazy. I feel like I’m always at work. Yesterday I was at a family bbq and I was constantly getting pinged. Every time I get a message notification I feel like I’m about to have a panic attack.

In Microsoft teams, is there a way to see all of the meetings that you have joined whether they were on your calendar or not?

WHYYYY do people join your WebEx like 10 mins before a scheduled meeting and then notify you that they are waiting? Someone please enlighten me.

Do you add people on Linkedin immediately after you have connected with someone in the firm (via zoom meetings ofcourse) to give intros etc.... Does it look unprofessional? I meant you working for that firm and you are connecting with people internally to get a project etc.
