I received an offer for $74k as underwriting analyst. Company is based out of DC. Is $74k a good offer? Or should I negotiate for more. 6 years in the industry. 5 as an account manager/underwriting assistant

Resigned from my job for blatant racism last week. Been a contingent worker for 6 months. The manager that recruited me unfortunately left after a couple weeks and went to another company. She however recommended me for the permanent opportunity to higher management. The acting manager came in, permanent role was posted, I applied, interviewed……manager told me they chose someone else external for the role. How many folks here have gone from data science into ML? And how many folks here have gone from data science into product management, or want to? Would love to hear some views here about career paths for data science people.

I have 5 YOE in Analytics... always thought I wanted to be a DS, but every job (even the junior ones) required experience in ML development. Though I am part of the ML project, I'm not the person develop the model. And I have a hard time when the interviewer ask about how I develop the model and what hyperparameters I tuned. I know the thought process and stuff but 'I' wasn't the one who did that part in the project. How to convince them that I could do the job without taking credit of others.

I feel like we're affected more than anyone else (except maybe history teachers) by the censorship and critical theory debate. Dealing with books coming on and off the banned list and angry parent emails over curriculum I don't have control over was especially frustrating this year. What are your tips for avoiding the conflict and teaching the facts without getting dragged into a political debate?

I'm under contract for a new build in progress that won't be done until much later this year. I fully expect interest rates will be higher than what I originally estimated. I may or may not try to lock in a good rate early, but I'm planning on renting it out and this throws a bit if a wrench in my margins. I can take it financially, but wondering, If I absolutely needed to get out of buying it, what recourse do I have? Or could I go ahead, and refinance later (who knows rates at that time...)?

1) what type of engagements realistically make up most of the work?
2) where is VCS positioned within the org?
3) how does VCS within M&A advisory relate to work done at e.g., Monitor Deloitte?
