If you’re currently a coordinator and rising to a manager, that probably means you’ve got <5 years experience and that’s a little high. You’re probably going to max out around $85, but try it out and see what they say.
If you’re talking to a new shop, ask them what they’re expecting the range to be and see if you’re comfortable. Don’t volunteer your number first.
Good luck!
It depends on what you’re going to bring to the agency. If you can bring in $500k in closed business, a $100k salary is worth it. Don’t get caught up in # of years experience if you’re a new biz person. Sell your value.
You need to bring in a lot more than 5x is your personal salary to be valuable to an agency. I make $175k and brought in over 14 million last year.
If this role is in a creative agency there is absolutely zero chance of this person negotiating commission. The head of business development/CMO is the only person who gets that (unfortunately).
Yes that’s high. You will likely have more leverage negotiating your commission than base pay. If you’re high performing that could mean a lot of $ for you. But since this business has long lead times maybe you also consider a stair step program allowing you to get in and make traction and have time to get business closed. Unless you are also responsible for growth of existing accounts, which could have a faster close or the pipeline you’re taking on has work close to closing
