Yes, OK to invite to an "open" meeting. "hey [friend], there's an interesting speaker at tonight's open meeting - want to join me and then grab food after?"
Remember you can't make them go and you can't make them listen. An AA friend of mine softly tried to get me to go for at least 10 years but my ears weren't ready to hear the message. Just be a friend, remind them you are there. When I was finally ready for AA I was grateful for that friend showing me a better way over the years and destigmatizing it for me.

In my experience, the best thing that you can do for your friend is be a good example of what good sobriety can look like. Show them what happy, joyous, and free looks like, and maybe one day they will want that for themselves.
Congrats to you on 76 days! That's awesome. I agree with the others, invite with ZERO pressure and I like the dinner invite after, but don't bring up the meeting at dinner, let him do that. Better yet, maybe extend a dinner invite only, letting him know you're attending a meeting first if he wants to join, but if not, let's just meet at dinner (he may ask how the meeting was and you get to be the vessel). The problem is that he will have to come to the conclusion himself that he needs the help, so one meeting might not stick BUT it plants a seed. You sound like a great friend btw!
Just be straight forward and ask. Let him know how valuable it has been to you. If he is not ready, he won't accept your offer right now. But at least you planted the seed and he knows he can come to you in the future if and when he decides to address his addiction. It's so hard to get through the denial. Just be there for him and hope for the best. You are a good friend.

“Attraction not promotion”; let them know they’re always welcome to come to an Open meeting with you, but we can’t force or control or manipulate anyone into recovery. Who are we to deny someone their bottom?
But that’s awesome about 76 days! Congrats!
