It sounds like you are experiencing a difficult situation with your manager. Here are a few pieces of advice that may be helpful:
Clearly communicate your concerns: Schedule a meeting with your manager and express your concerns about their lack of support and communication. Use specific examples to illustrate how you feel and how it's impacting your performance. Ask them to be specific about their expectations and how they plan to help you improve.
Document everything: Keep a record of all the conversations and emails related to your performance and the PIP. This will help you to refer back to specific details and avoid misunderstandings.
Seek support from HR: If you feel that your manager is not providing you with the necessary support or feedback, consider reaching out to HR. They can provide guidance on how to navigate the situation and help you to understand your rights and responsibilities.
Take initiative: While it's important to communicate your concerns and seek support, it's also important to take initiative and be proactive about your own growth. Use the resources available to you, attend training sessions, seek feedback from colleagues, and continue to suggest new strategies to improve your performance.
Consider your options: If you continue to feel unsupported by your manager and the situation is negatively impacting your well-being and career, you may need to consider other options such as seeking a transfer to another department or looking for a new job.
I appreciate this, I’m already on a plan where I have 3 weeks to improve or I’m out so time is of the essence. I’ve tried advocating for myself with my manager but clearly that had gotten me nowhere. They’re also blocked many of my attempts to request support from colleagues.
I think, at this point, I will reach out to HR and provide a thorough explanation of the situation and the steps I’m taking to improve. However, I will express my concern over the lack of support.
