Just signed the outside employment form in KPMG onboarding system. I actually wanted to start dabbling in creative writing as a potentially monetizable hobby, but I'm guessing this may pose issues.
Definitely interested in the "exception from this policy may be requested if provision of non-professional services doesn't interfere with one's duties of causes conflict of interest" clause, though. Has anyone been able to get one of those before?

What really matters is going to be the Almighty Charge Hours. In my experience (your mileage may vary) 1350 - 1950 depending on your level and amount of admin / sales associated with your level. You mentioned 37.5 hrs - no way that is total hours, but that would come out at 1950 annualized over 52 weeks, which sounds like a charge hour number. 2300 prob includes PTO, and would be 220 OT hours built in to a full year (2080). You make that 220 up with 3-4 months 55-60. They could have communicated better but this sounds par for the course at any large firm
Billable hours were included in the email, OP just only cares about the total for some reason. 1650 for associates, 1750 for seniors, 1550 for managers, 1400 for SM, 1200 for director and partner
2300 hours a year includes PTO, training, admin, meetings, and other nonbillable time. This equates to an average 44 hours a week which isn’t much more than the average 9-5. Up to you if you think the compensation is worth it.
That’s 200 hours lower then managers at forvis mazars
Were you actually expecting 37.5 hours a week year round just because the offer letter said that? Sounds like you didn’t do any research or have any idea on how public accounting firms work
I don’t get what you’re complaining about, Those hours are light. I am a senior tax manager and my total hours goal for the year is 2,650 and 1,650 is charge hours so 1,000 hours is non charge.

Does that include PTO hours? Serious question because a lot of timekeeping softwares (and thus policies) do.
What matters is billable.
But what is our new billable expectation?
This isn’t anything new I don’t know why you’re crashing out over it
You should start a union.
What are the other levels
Your PTO and such is considered in those hours. 2300 has been the industry standard for years - I started PwC in 2002 and as a new associate it was 2,300 back then with 1,900 billable.
Must be nice to coast. My expected at 2700 total so I got no sympathy for you.
Sorry, not sorry.
