I left a job when I felt like I had no choice, but I've never actually done it with a sense of adventure. I've seen people talk about doing things like that and how it has worked out well for them. But I have no family money to rely on and really need a salary, so I can't be all that adventurous.
I do this every few years. I get bored easily and 40+ hours a week is way too long spent on something that makes me miserable. I am lucky in a way though that I'm single, so I can take more risks with my salary and not have to worry.

If I felt like I was getting stagnant in my position that’s when I would look to take the leap. That’s the big thing for me.
I have done it before OP and I would highly suggest it. Sometimes you have to do the scary thing in order to grow and advance. And worst case it doesn't work out but we only get one life to live. I say go for it and if you hate it you can always go back.
