Yes. Always go dressier on day 1.

Yes. After day 1 I think you can be more relaxed

No you don’t need a jacket Jesus Christ. Everyone here is an absolute gunner. Wear a button down shirt and slacks. You don’t need a jacket
Mentor
Definitely go with the suit and tie. No one will think negatively of it, but there is a good chance of meeting a few crusty old partners who will absolutely think better of you for it.
Subject Expert
lol no one cares about old partners
Coach
Yes. Dress up to start and over time you can conform more to what others wear, if you want
Absolutely. Dress for the job you want. Not the job you have.
“I want a job that does not allow jeans.”
Ok thank you for your responses, def wearing a jacket and suit. Is it worth it to wear a tie too?
No tie. Wear a jacket and you’ll prob take it off.
go dressier on day 1 and start dressing down
Don’t wear the tie. Bring it. Wear the suit for sure
Full S150 custom suit first day with Gucci deal sleds or you’re not serious enough
I’d always do a suit and tie the first day anyway. You can always take it off later and it’s always good to have a jacket and tie in the office, just in case there’s a client meeting. After that I think just wearing a shirt or a nice sweater is perfectly fine.
Subject Expert
Yes. No one will think it's odd to see a tie in the office.

Just wear one but frankly business casual is fine moving forward.
You can just wear khakis and a button down and no one will bat an eye. Wear suits for client calls and ofc if you have a meeting, but otherwise no need.
I keep a suit jacket in my room for important client calls. Over time you'll discern the difference.
Mentor
Also when meeting with partners most of them don't need you or expect you to be in a suit.

I would say yes, but I’m in SoCal and have been shooketh that every new hire at my firm has shown up looking pretty… um… I think slovenly, but let’s just say, way way way too casual for the first day and week of work: ill fitting stretch pants or jeans, Sherpa jacket, oversized tunics. Our male summer associate is the only new hire who actually wore a jacket, tie and dress shirt every day.

Good god you lack creativity. No wonder all the gen z associates don’t wanna pay for your alimony
Certainly won’t be a bad idea.
