For the first time, I asked a client to leave because they were disrespectful, yelling screaming, and causing a disruption among the other patients. They were extremely distraught - dog was in a car accident and in emergency surgery, so I felt so horrible but felt I did what was best for everyone else. Not sure how else I could have handled that one.

I think this seems like the best way to handle the situation given that the client was such a disruption to the overall clinic. You have to take care of all your clients' needs at once, you can't just prioritize one person's needs so it sounds like you handled that one correctly!

Thank you. It was truly an awful situation.

I remember a similar situation when my own dog was in an emergency situation. In the midst of all that emotion and stress, it can be hard to keep it together. My first goal was to try to remain calm and try to get the client to do the same. It was unfortunately necessary to ask the client to leave, but I also made sure to show understanding and compassion which I believe was important. Going forward, I would try to have an alternate resource like a family member or close friend available to help the client remain calm and provide emotional support.

I blacked out and hit on a coworker at a work-related event. I would never have normally done it (aside from the stupid amounts of alcohol in my system) and they are in a committed relationship, making everything so much worse.

So our CEO asked me and a colleague to give a Start/Stop/Continue Mid-year review of our CIO who’s been our Head of Product for a few months (Our Head of Product left because of him when that guy came in)

We have a lot to say and none of the PMs approves the way he operates.

My concern is that it’s meant to be transparent but if we’re honest and he gets called off, he will figure out it comes from us.

Never been in that situation before, is it better to be completely honest or a bad idea?

I’m married, and one of my coworkers flirts with me. Nothing super overt, but definitely not professional. We’re good friends and work together constantly because we’re on the same client, so I don’t want to make it awkward. Do I just do nothing and let it go? It is mostly just odd I’m not super offended, but I’m also clearly uninterested!

Hello! This is a long story, so I’ll try to keep it brief. I work for a very small supplement company - it’s myself (marketing/acct mgmt) my coworker (sales), and the owner. My coworker is struggling to complete his tasks/meet his goals, and the owner is coming to me about angry clients. I’m afraid my coworkers inability to complete his duties is somehow being reflected onto me? What’s the most tactful way to have a conversation, either with him or the owner? I need help. I think I’m being underpaid at my job I’ve been at for 3 1/2 years. I’m a full time receptionist for a veterinary hospital but I also manage the reception area (I answer all questions and if someone makes a mistake I’m the one the fix it) and am an in house trained veterinary assistant but can do a techs job (unlicensed) and I do help the technicians out anytime they need and I’m only getting paid $13 an hour while a crew member at arbys gets paid $15 . What should I do ?

If you're being told "take your full lunch" (because by law you need to be given a certain amount of lunch depending on how many hours you work) but then you're told, if work's not done you need to stay until it is, and now people don't want to take their full lunches because it means they'll have to stay after work longer, is that coercion a violation of any federal labor laws?
