Has anyone ever felt disrespected or embarrassed because of how the internet portrays online community managers aka Discord mods? Sometimes I feek that there is no point telling anyone what I do because they might just shame me

Yes I get so many side eyes when I tell people I'm a social media manager. They act like it's not a real job even though it takes skill to do what we do well

I hate that people are career snobs. Just anybody couldn't just do what we do. It takes a specific skill set

They don't get the struggle of our role for our niches. I don't know if some online groups can work if it's not for the likes of us. Right?

Once. But I was so pissed off for letting myself feel that way. I don't bother interacting with them anymore.

Felt disrespected, yes. But not embarrassed. Explaining things to them would be a waste of time.

You are so right about this. There's no point telling anyone what we do. They won't even buy it.

Of course! Several times already. Tell will proudly say it to your face.

I want to feel embarrassed. But I think they are only miserable and they also want us to feel the same. They do not know anything, to be honest.

How did you give notice you were lateraling to people you like? Particularly if you haven't been there that long?

I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬

Why I think my manager tries to move me out?

Working for a senior who is beyond horrible. She talks to you like you’re stupid and makes it sound like you’re absolutely terrible at what you’re doing. She’s made 5 other associates cry during her 5 year career. Got someone fired and made another person quit. It’s known around the office that she can no longer have a female associate, because she talks down to females more than she does males. I came along and thought I could deal with it but she literally makes me want to not log on tomorrow.

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

⚠️Toxicity Alert ⚠️

My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.

I guess I’m officially being off boarded team doesn’t care no one has said anything … I’m a ball of nerves thankfully my old company wants me back — feeling so sad and angry and just incredibly nervous

So I just recently got into dating after a break up 3 months ago. I joined some dating apps and have been getting quite a few matches. I’ve never dated anyone like to a point of going on traditional dates. Basically, I have no clue what to do on a date once i have one planned. Like I’ve been on a few and it’s been just talking but I guess I have no clue what to do after. I’m probably just rambling at this point but basically I need advice on actual dates and how to feel it out and what to do. Ty
