Hey all! Just wanted to see where I might fit in with the Huntsville, AL job market. I’m a 14A and former THAAD PL/TCO and current XO. I’ll be ETSing at the end of September 2025. I have a BA in political science and an MPS in strategic leadership. Ideally I’d like to continue working with air defense but on the civilian side. My biggest concern is that I don’t have any sort of engineering degrees so I’m trying to figure out what jobs I’d be qualified for. Any and all help is greatly appreciated

As for the degree, I wouldn't be overly worried. Experience can just as valuable as certain types of degrees.

I have a 20+ year career doing AdTech/BI/Analytics in media agencies. Started as an intern, rose up to director and board member at various agencies.

I switched to tech consulting at SM level early this year for the money but also to see new industries & learn something new. Had to quit the small firm I joined after only 5 months due to chaotic and overbearing leadership. Now I have an offer from Avanade and one from a big media agency on the table.

Should I go back or stay in consulting?

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

Hello 👋

After about 18 months of hustling, I’ve been offered my first AD role. My background is in engineering so for what feels like forever I’ve been building (and rebuilding) my book with creative work and it’s finally paid off 🎉

I want to hit the ground running so I’m trying to learn as much as possible before I start.

Can anyone recommend some books, shows, talks, social accounts etc that I can learn from?

Thank you!

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
