How do you unwind when 95% of your life is other people talking? Customers? Talking. Coworkers? Talking. People on the bus home? Talking. Kids? Talking. Wife after kids go to bed? Talking. I'm so burnt out.

I just saw an interview with Bryan Cranston where he said he spent every Monday in complete silence to help with his broadway schedule. I've been tempted to try something like that and spend that day on my own. I know it's hard to do with kids and a spouse, but if you schedule one day each month, it might be a fun challenge. Trust me, you are not alone.

It will always be the same thing wherever you go. At the end of the day it will be up to you on how to manage your stress. Take a break, spare some time alone or talk to your wife about how you feel. She will understand and will help you find a way on how to feel better.

I exercise for at least a half hour to an hour a day. I need that time to unwind. Just give me that time, please. It's necessary for my mental and physical well-being.

Go somewhere quiet. Secluded beaches, mountains or farms would be great. Hang in there, OP.

It's so sad that you even find talking to your kids and wife a burden. I think you are extremely burnt out. Take a break if you can.

Go somewhere without any distractions. I did it once before and it really helped me. You are not alone in this battle.

You should talk to your manager first or boss and ask for a vacation. Then talk to your wife. Let her know what's happening.

Is your wife aware of this? If not, you should talk to her. She'll understand for sure.

Obviously many of us get paid very well and there is an expectation with work demands for being paid that high. But what’s too much? How do you set a limit to preserve your mental health? I find myself guilty for taking time to decompress but I know I come back to work refocused after I do it.

- What's average annual hike?
- Is this a learning opportunity? If yes, how
Lastly, is there any near term plan to work from office on a permanent basis?

Ok, I’m gonna say this. Schools should open. Now hear me out. My wife is a family doctor, she is working insane hours, she is treating covid patients, and there is a lot of days when she has to stay at the hospital without coming home. My neighbour works in a local grocery store, so he has been at work since the Day 1 of lockdown. So if you need medical help, or want to eat, it’s ok for those people to be at work, but their kids have to stay home? Cont’d >>
