Move back in with your parents to pay least rent possible, find higher paying job that you can find, and start pouring as much money as possible into paying off debt. Whether you can file for loan forgiveness is kind of situational. What kind of loans did you get?
To be honest, I got a second full-time job and put my entire second paycheck and part of my first paycheck towards the loans. Lived a very minimalist lifestyle and worked my butt off until the debt was gone. It's not a fun or popular answer, but it's what worked for me. Just paying the minimums meant I was only paying the interest.
Depending on how much the payment and you have to pay on them, I started off paying half the monthly payment each paycheck and slowly raised the amount . If I got a raise at work I would put a portion of the raise added on to each payment. If you are eligible for bonuses I put 3/4 of my after tax bonus towards my loans.
I'm not familiar with the loan forgiveness but it's usually a long time of consecutive payments before they forgive but they are adding new programs.
i wish i would have put 10 years into public service to get them forgiven
I am glad ynou asked this OP because I am in the same boat as you. Doesn'tfeel like they ar ever going to be forgiven and it seems like no matter how much I pay on them I am not putting a dent in what I owe.
