Proud of Google for firing the clown who authored the anti-diversity rant. Unfortunately a lot of people feel the same way but remain silent when around women and minorities. Mediocrity is a threat...

Agree with BCG1, It's the present day politically correct BS That doesn't allow society to have a rational conversation on how to solve for real world problems, to include the real problem of gender diversity. Instead, its replaced with Google PR bull shit lip service so they can check the box for "doing something about diversity" but not actually change anything.

like

I read the memo and I think it's laced with bigotry and prejudice. Like if a catholic priest talked about how little boys are molested because of how cute they are or some farcical reason, so we should have a real conversation and stop blaming the priests who molested them.

I agree with you. The firing is silly. Better to discuss disagreements or viewpoints them just firing the dude. Google could have handled the situation in a more democratic way. Unless he was mistreating people. Perhaps we don't know all the facts.

like

If he were mistreating people such that it mandated his firing, the manifesto should be of no consequence. That is, it shouldn't take a manifesto to be the last straw. Highly doubt that's the case. By firing him, Google has just added more teeth to some of the expressions in his manifesto.

like

Hahaha bcg2 I'm going to agree with you there. I've had more open and honest conversations with all sorts of people sitting in the woods covered in mud and shitting in holes while in the Army then I'm able to have with people in this industry.

In consulting, always "one wrong move" away from being fired

like

I do agree that firing him was the wrong move; I'm surprised so many people are agreeing with these "facts." So many things contribute to study results and it's very easy to hear a study to show exactly what you want.

Lol D3 first of all BLM is not racist...literally the exact opposite of racist

like

A2: Wanting to have segregation, making anti-white or anti-semantic statements, having opinions purely based on race etc etc are all racist things. BLM is just as racist as any of the 'white nationalist' groups that are complaining about white genocide.

Here is a little exercise for you. Go to their website and swap out black for white in their statements. When you do it sounds like something David Duke wrote.

like

D3 I see where you're trying to come from, but that view is largely due to media / nonsense reporting. The whole essence of the move@ent is that black lives matter just as much as everyone else. It's to bring awareness to the blatant racism and disrespect that black folks in our country experience on a daily basis; it's not meant to demean other races (although I know the movement is big and obviously some people will do that). It's just meant to bring black people up, not to tear down anyone else

like

Imagine if that neckbeard wrote his manifesto about specific minorities, like black people or Jews.

OP yes!!!! 👏👏👏👏

D3, Professionals, especially ones with PhDs should have the social graces to be aware that posting something involving inherent genetic weaknesses will get your ass canned. Doesn't matter what the company is, if they let someone stay after that they're opening themselves up to hostile workplace lawsuits from many mag people

like

D3, you're really personally invested in this aren't you? The guy at google didn't publish a scientific paper, he published a rant that contained some scientific theory and a lot of anecdotes. Facts ARE facts but his "manifesto" went far beyond that. Imagine if any of us made a presentation in that manner

His manifesto does not have the greatest reasoning, however, is he right to point out that an overt preference for one group over another is problematic?

I work in Florida where the Parental Rights law concerning gender theory and sexuality in k-3 is currently being labeled the "Don't Say Gay Bill". I agree that we should leave those choices up to the parents. Do you guys have similar things happening where you're at?

Parents are deciding between moving to WVirginia vs Virginia at retirement to be closer to us based in fairfax (ideally be at 1 hour driving distance). They currently in the mid west but WVirginia appeals to them because of low taxes, low cost of living. We are also poc so appreciate some diversity.

What are some areas you would recommend both in Va and WV? What else should they consider prior to house hunting? Dad likes to garden/farm as well so looking for homes with large backyards. Tia!

Been for a company for over 2years. The executive team is very much a boy's club. There are a few women in management roles but zero ethnicity diversity there. I raised my concern to HR in feb. And they are just now deciding to do something about it. They want me (white female) to put together a diversity committee. Any suggestions on how to go about it? How to attract volunteers to the committee? I want to make sure I get the right people involved in this, to push for changes.

The contrarian in me makes me think this is a decent indication that housing market will stagnate (or increase minimally) for a few years.

As a general rules, I feel like the majority cannot foresee a crash/surge coming. The prevalence of such expectations would hamper the pre-conditions necessary for such a dramatic change.
