Refinanced my house last month and just got a $5k check for the property tax escrow balance from my old loan. My plan was to use that to put down on the new loan (new lender funded the property tax) but I’m wondering if I should just invest it? My rate interest rate is below 3%. Anything I am missing here? New to this process.

I would invest it if you have something you like that will likely pay at least 3%. It depends on your style though—if you are hot to trot on paying everything off, pop it towards the mortgage. I personally don’t mind a little leverage so personally I’d put it in either a high income dividend stock or play around with crypto (if you’re risk tolerant).

For self employed: max SEP IRA/solo 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max HSA
