Let me also explain the art teacher is teaching 5th grade online. I got moved because the music room is an isolation room.
I’ve had to learn this lesson the hard way. If there is ever a decision or conversation had that could affect anything in a meaningful way, I always follow up with an email to document the conversation. “Per our conversation today, since you have made it clear to me that it was acceptable to use your art supplies, I will be using some of your beads to make ganzas.” Just having a written record of something will make it ten times easier to defend yourself later on should anything happen.
Never trust anyone. Also, address it with your admin and leave the art teacher out of it. Admin won’t sweat the beads, but I would definitely replace them and make it clear to the admin the previous conversation had made you comfortable enough to use them the first time. Sometimes you learn a lesson by getting your hand bit. I am dealing with the same thing in my district but with the choir teacher. The kicker is I’ve got tenure and they don’t, soooooo....
