Hi, I am new to Canada and currently living in Vancouver, BC. I was looking for opportunities in the Financial Services industry in the Metro Vancouver Area. I have about 3 years of experience in the Banking/Financial Services and HealthTech industry and worked alongside IBM and PwC in developing and implementing cutting-edge FinTech products for business clients of a Financial Institution and led the Finance and data science team at a Health tech startup. Let me know if anyone can help me.

If someone wants to be a gunner on a deal then I let them. Less work for me to do and fewer late nights. I just nod and say "Sounds good. Good to get on that" and then log off and go to bed at 10.
I’m an HLS junior and know others in the same boat and we are not like this at all. Unfortunate representation of the school right there.
Let your work speak for itself and ignore their posturing. If it starts to directly impact you (e.g., they try to pass work into you), remind them that they aren’t your superiors.
Lol let them think they are hot shit for running redlines all day 😂
When I was a first year, another first year started delegating to me and taking responsibility for my work product to the mid levels. Like only three weeks into the job lol. He’s gone now and no one liked him
If the group is truly cordial, partners and seniors will realize these people suck and won’t want to work with them. I’ve definitely seen it happen. It might take them awhile to realize though.
I didn’t know HLS attracts a lax-bro vibe. Idk why that stereotype still exists though. I find lax players are typically pretty nice (myself included.. I did suck though)

I find HLS is second only to GLC in attracting that demographic, but both are also just large schools. As for (former) lax players generally, it only takes a few bad apples to ruin people’s impression of the group.

Yeesh. No advice to give but sorry that's happening. I've never met first years like that.

Ignore it. Either they’ll leave within a few years or it’ll turn out that’s just the way the firm is and you’ll leave.
Ignore but don’t let them boss you around. You’re peers.
What year are you?

What’s a lax-bro? Am I already getting old?
Exactly, ahahahah! It’s clear now that I didn’t go to HLS… and arguably I didn’t deserve to graduate from any school 😂
