Yoga is the key honestly, I used to hate working out but now I need it to be able to move
This. I’m a yoga instructor on the side and, let me tell you, the 60, 70 and 80-year olds who have a consistent practice look and move at least ten years younger than people I know who are sedentary.
That being said, if yoga isn’t your thing, find some sort of physical activity that is. It’s better to find something that resonates and that you’ll look forward to than forcing yourself into an activity that’s a chore. People really underestimate the benefits of simple stuff like walking, functional movement and simple stretching.
Last tip: Consistently practice getting up and down from the floor without using your hands. This is a skill that many people lose as they age and it’s key to aging resiliently and maintaining independence.
😂😂 you’re 30- Happy Birthday! It’s not a decline, it’s your hormones finally not revving up as they did all your formative years- you are now fully formed! Exercise, drink water- every day, exercise. And eat as healthy as you can- not strict but pay attention to how it makes you feel. I wish I had done this in my early 30s as well. Life takes over, these are the baseline basics that will ensure you stay in top form. And make sure you exercise your mind as well- read, challenge yourself to learn at least 1 new thing each year.
Lol my best tip is to start eating healthy. Your metabolism literally gives up at midnight when you turn 30. Try to exercise and take a multi vitamin!
Reduce and/or limit your alcohol consumption. Try to eat plant-based as much as possible and drink a lot of water. Sleep hygiene is super important, too.
Stretch and be conscious of your posture sitting at the desk all day, try to get a short walk in during the workday when you can, your back will thank you
ATG training!!
I use googles timer. 2 of them. 1 hour and 30 minutes. When 30 goes off I stretch for 1 minute. When hour goes off I sit or stand my desk.
Modify if you want but the point is: keep the blood flowing old guy.
+Sleep food don’t drink etc
You have 5 years left.
If you ever injured yourself in high school, no matter what you do now it will come back to roost: but fear not, you’ll always know a day in advance when it’s going to rain without checking the weather. A super power some say.
There’s a feeling when you wake up 30, I hear you. Can literally feel it in your bones, and that random one long eyebrow hair, and a single out of place grey hair. But you’re good for a while. At 35 that feeling hits like an 18 wheeler pushing into third gear climbing a mountain pass.
But there are little doses of wisdom, which helps.
You’ve got time. And happy birthday.
Also, juicing. Like fruits/vegatables, occasional cleanse,. works wonders. Check out Fat, sick and nearly dead (doc on prime). I can attest, makes you feel 10 years younger and skin, hair, everything’s running better
Oh my got that one eyebrow hair!
Move it or lose it. Exercise isn't just for gym rats and Olympians. Regular physical activity is like a magic potion for your body and mind. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week, or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity exercise. Think brisk walks, bike rides, swimming, dancing. Anything that gets your heart pumping and your endorphins flowing.
Movement that you like! Walk, dance, lift - whatever it is, keep moving.
