Would you rather: a) W2 at Coca-Cola Consolidated for 80k a year as Business Analyst + 15k in bonus and company contribution + 10 days PTO vs b) W2 contract through staffing agency(Dexian) for Bank of America at 65 an hr as Data Analyst with health/dental/401k no bonus. 12-18 month contract. Chance to convert full time.

3 YOE and 3 jobs. This would be the 4th job.

Comp progression: 0 yr 74k to 80k to 1 yr 100k to 2yr (layoff) 72k to 80

Is this a no brainer? Curious to hear your opinions/vote.

Coca Cola. Great brand to have on your resume. Would be a no brainer to me

Wise beyond your years, thank you!

The industry of the companies where you worked before does matter. Pharma companies want to hire from people who’ve worked at other pharmas. Manufacturing companies want to hire people who worked for other manufacturing companies. It’s often hard to switch industries even if the work is industry agnostic. It speaks to the culture of work environments. The work culture is different between industries. So think about which industry you want to end up. Financial Services or consumer goods (?).

Good advice

Take the full time role. A contract position is riskier

like

I’m going to against the general advise here. You’re young and can take more risk. If the BofA job is within the skillset you’re aiming for, go get that extra money. Also, banking typically has much more opportunities than food manufacturing.

You will want the perm role. I have done lots of contracts with promise of converting to full time but never happen.

How are you working at Parthenon making sub 80k? Our first year associates clear well over 100

like

Got laid off, that's why the contract role is even worth considering. I would be going from a) 100k to 80k or b) 100k to 135k

Alright all, it was definitely a no brainer, Coca-Cola it is!

Side question, very hypothetical... but Coca-Cola or Google?

Depends on what kind of work you want to do and what is your job profile

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞

Hi Everyone!

A company has made an offer and I wanted to understand if i'm being made a fool.

The monthly compensation is 1,37,500 (16,50,000 yearly) and Variable component (Bonus) is 1,50,000.

However in the offer it says "You shall be paid an annual compensation of Rs. 16,50,000/- per annum Cost to Company."

Which to me sounds like it doesn't consider 1,50,000 to be a part of CTC which is suspicious to me.

How should I deal with this?

Thank you!

Remember one thing - If some companies are laying off employees then it's equally a good chance for the other companies to get talented resource . Here things will remain balanced mostly and there's no need to fear . Not all companies do layoff at the same time. You may end up getting a 100% hike too. Just believe in yourself and focus on your skillset, time to brush up and pull up your socks. Stay safe , stay positive !
