Planning to cancel CSR after using it for a long time. What’s a good rewards card with a manageable annual fee? I’m in b-school so traveling a bit but not doing corporate spend for at least another 18 months.

Pretty torn between CSR and Amex Gold cards. Ignoring annual fees, I’m torn between points earning potential. With most of my budget going towards discretionary spending (dining, groceries, drinks) the Gold has an appeal, yet CSR’s broader definition for travel might even out the point earning potential (ie covering full cost of one Airbnd for several friends would be a big point generator).

Are there any other major factors I might not be considering? I’ve gone thru the TPG review FWIW.

Any reason not to get it?
- Don't travel for work anymore. 3-4 vacations per yr
- Have a CSR already
- Typically stay at Marriott properties
- Not concerned about the 5/24 rule. Don't plan on getting a bunch of new ones

Any foreign born folks in the US who has traveled pre-covid or traveling again? Is there any way around getting precheck/clear/global entry? I have CSR which gives me free access to precheck but I don’t think internationals are eligible. Any tips to streamline the weekly travel :( I would hate to take off my shoes and my laptop thru security everytime 😢

Is the CSR still worth it with the increased fee?

Never have had a credit card before, and somehow I’m getting rejected for credit cards like Chase Sapphire. Credit is somewhere in the 600-650 range.

If I get a Delta AMEX card, do I have to have booked my ticket with that card in order to be able to leverage the benefits (e.g., no baggage fees, priority boarding, lounge access)?

I’ll be flying delta a ton but also have the chase sapphire reserve. CSR’s point earnings and redemption values are way higher than what delta gives with their AMEX cards. Am hoping to be able to book the ticket with CSR but still be able to leverage the Amex benefits, but not sure if possible.
