I’m interviewing some juniors which I’ve never done before. Any tips?

Would you pay for one-on-one interview coaching by top creatives? If so, how much?

Two interviews with the creative leaders of the agency. Great energy, aligned on the agency’s vision, excitement for the portfolio. Follow-up email of the recruiter: they really like you but they pass this time! This one stings...it really does!

What would you ask a CCO and CSO during a job interview? I have interviews with both and don’t even know where to begin!

Any others planners out here that find the majority of planners to be cringeworthy? It’s like teammates make an art of trying to sound quirky and trying too hard. I’m losing it interviewing candidates right now.

Anyone have experience with declining an offer from a company and further down the road applying to another job at that company? Love the company but not sure timing is right.

Need some advice- had an interview with a recruiter last Friday. It went pretty well. She said she would send my resume to the team and they would review & reach out. I sent her a thank you email a couple hours after our chat & she responded fairly quickly (under 20 minutes) saying she enjoyed our conversation & the creative directors would reach out to me early this week. Its now almost 3pm on Tuesday. Do I follow up with her or wait? If yes, when? Thanks all. Hoping this pans out 🤞

Do you ever go through an interview totally prepared and you’re thinking “I am seriously nailing this!” And you leave it feeling super good, but you remember one thing you said that could have been misconstrued, or something you did that was maybe weird, and by the next day you just feel like you completely bombed it? No, just me? Are there any true indicators for knowing whether you did well in an interview or nah?

If you got fired from a company, do you tell that during interviews? Will it affect your chances?

Is it uncommon to negotiate titles? Been interviewing for this job and really want it, but it’s an "associate" level position which also seems weird considering they’re asking for 3 years experience. I’ve currently been an associate for 2 years now and think it’s time to move on from the title. Salary is right, just the title is holding me back. Thoughts?

Individual thank you emails or sometimes address 2 people on one? Or just hit each person with a quick thanks? A shop surprised me with way more interviews than expected & I want to thank them for their time.

What differentiates the good candidates from the great ones in an interview? What makes you think "wow, I really want this person on my team"? (Aside from their portfolio obviously.)

Realized my former manager asked everyone on my team but me to review her. Pretty sure she knew I’d be honest about when she done f*cked up with me. I’ll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too... during my exit interview!

Has anyone been fired? How’d you bounce back? How did you approach it when applying for new jobs? I’m legitimately worried I’ll be fired and could use some advice.

How do u feel about very short interviews? I had a 12 minute one - they were glued to their watches & didn’t even prep. Agree u should track time & sure maybe I wasn’t a great fit. But they were very complimentary, asking questions & said they’d scheduled 15 minute calls back to back. It’s also silly to ask with 11 seconds left if I’ve questions. If I don’t, I don’t seem engaged, if I do, there’s no time. It seems like a robust staff role might merit 20 minutes. Am I nuts?

I had first and second round interviews for a specific role at a company—and even discussed salary range with the recruiter during first round—then I get an email from the recruiter saying the SVP and ACD I interviewed with loved me and thought I’d be a great fit, and that she’d be in touch when a position opens up that matches my skills and level. Has anyone ever had something like this happen? I’m so confused, because the role was for my skills and level.

Favorite questions to ask when being interviewed by the CSO?

How terrible is it to accept a job (second choice) and continue to wrap up interviews at first choice job during the 2 weeks notice? And then if you get first choice, bailing on the one you accepted before you start?

What's the best strategy for answering the pay range question in an interview? I typically give a range, but I'm wondering if it's better to put the question back on them and ask what their range is.

Tips when being interviewed by a stoic person?

How do you guys construct your cover letters? I’ve been applying to a bunch of places with no response, so I really don’t know what works.
Been trying to find ways to make it stand out. Go into how I love their work (even when I think it’s meh) and speak to more than what’s on my resume. In your opinion, is this more of the time to just talk business - my accomplishments, experience, and why that helps?

I’m interviewing with an agency in a network, and they’re taking forever, so I reached out to another agency in the same network that’s also hiring, and they got back to me. Do I need to mention that I’m also being considered for the role at the other agency? The hiring managers know each other, so I don’t want to go behind anyone’s back but I also don’t want to miss any opportunities.

I keep getting stumped on the interview question “what is your creative process like?” My answer are usually a bit underwhelming (I spend some time is ideating alone and then reconvene with my partner). Does anyone have any tips on good tips on how to phrase it better?

Can you please post here if your agency plans to keep offering wfh / flexibility or not after it’s safe to return to office? I’m interviewing and dont want to waste my time with agencies that will require in office 5 days a week. Thank you

What are some questions for an art director to ask in an interview?

Is it acceptable to ask for a later starting date beyond two weeks (assuming you give your old place two weeks notice)? Super excited to start but I’ve been SO busy and overworked that I’d love to ask for a week (or maybe even two) to reset before starting a new gig. If so, when during the interview process would I ask?

There’s an opportunity at a company I’ve always wanted to work at. However, i feel the current opening would be quite a step down as I have several years more experience and much more responsibilities than this is calling for. Is it worth applying to warrant a conversation with hiring manager? Message hiring manager to see if there’s flexibility (not sure how would address this)? Or just stay patient for something my level?

First interview with CDs went AMAZING! 2nd interview with senior CW and AD is next. What should I expect the conversations to include? Is this my opportunity to get a feel for the day-to-day?

Question for those who are senior enough to have a say in recruiting decisions on your team — are the candidates you ultimately extend the offer to unanimously loved by the team? Or do you often have to weigh pros/cons of all the candidates w your team-members and settle based on others’ preferences? Also after how many interviews do you know you’ve found the right person for the job? Does HR ever say “just pick one!” if they feel like there’s no other option to present?

Folks at the big media agencies, what are you using to plan local media? Is it applying a national media mix at local markets? Or are you looking at local markets individually?

Is Ogilvy LA doing well or rebuilding? Heard about some opportunities out there and two friends interviewed a while back

My boss has zero leverage in the company, and therefore creative always goes to shit because someone in another department thinks they're far better placed to make creative calls, and my boss can't do anything about it to defend the work.

It's taking a toll on the work, team's mental health, and overall morale.

The company values are no longer aligned to my own, and it's no longer the job I was sold in on during the interview process.

What do I do?
