when applying for jobs on linkedin, is anyone else directed to upward search and not actually being given the choice to apply for the job that you originally clicked on?

Just had an interview and it was great (really want the job) but I’m swamped at work and need to finish tasks for the day. Won’t have time to send a thank you note before 6 — is it okay to send on Monday or should I still aim to send tonight?

I been seeing some student books lately that all their campaigns are just one slide with each one with headings like Problem, Insight, & idea or just a case study video. I’ve Seen some cool ideas. But, is this enough? Can a whole book be like this? Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

Just received a resume & cover letter from a director-level candidate. Very well designed. But the cover letter has a photo of the applicant and an original photo they shot of the brand they’d be working on. Almost like an image you’d put in a deck.

Designed well, but is that odd for applying for a job you don’t have yet?

Curious on the industries thoughts on people who over sell themselves in the interview process for a senior level position and when they get the job it becomes clear they don’t actually know how do the work. If you are a supervisor what are your thoughts in this instance? How long do you give the person to “figure it out”? Currently dealing with this within our dept and it’s causing more work/frustration than the new hire is actually helping.

I received an offer last Friday from company A who asked me to respond Monday, if not ASAP this week. But I am also far along in the interview process with company B and I’d rather that opportunity. I’m fairly certain company B will share an offer sometime this week. Do I just stall? I’m not looking to leverage either offer against each other. I just don’t want to lose out on A if B falls through and also don’t want to leave them hanging. How should I explain me taking my time accepting?

I want to do something nice for a contact in my network who passed along my book, which resulted in an interview. Pre-Covid I’d take them out for a coffee or mail a thank you note to their office. But now, I’d need their home address to mail a card or DoorDash them a coffee, which feels inappropriate.

Got any suggestions for a thank you gift in the “Time of Covid”? And don’t say E-card.

Why do so many recruiters leave you in the dark after a couple of interviews at their agency instead of sending an email starting that they’ve pursued other candidates?

What are the chances a boutique shop I interviewed at would send me a rejection letter as opposed to not emailing anything?

Creative interview - doesn’t seem like you worked at any relevant award winning agencies. How many awards do you have? Is this everything in your portfolio? Can you tell me about projects you are doing outside of work? Will you take a demotion or salary cut to have a chance at award winning work here? We are passionate here, so do you like to work late nights and weekends? Last candidate had a viral application.

Looking for recommendations for an upcoming, remote real people production. Multi day shoot of real people, 6 - 10 interviews across the US, likely to require drop kits for self filming (interiors and exteriors) - because of variety of locations (and Covid). Production budget alone is around $200k +.

Why do job applications for art directors have way more requirements than copywriters these days? I’m sick of being expected to not only art direct and design, but to be the illustrator, animator, editor, 3D artist, UX/UI designer, etc. all while my copywriter friends snag interviews and gigs left and right with ease bc hiring managers just expect them to do the 1 job they’re supposed to do! I need a job and I’m so so so tired of it!

How can a candidate tell they're being jerked around by a recruiter/HR after a final interview? Is it ever appropriate to say you don't appreciate them not getting back to you after they said they would, for ignoring your emails, giving vague (or zero!) feedback, etc?

I'm tired of being ignored, ghosted, etc by these recruiters especially as someone who's just entering the industry. It's rude and unfair especially since each role has 3-6 interviews & I'm seeking genuine feedback. Advice?

Adventures in Interviewing: Today we were wrapping up a pretty good interview with a strong potential candidate. When asked if they had any last questions, they said that they had an issue with our Work from Home policy (we’re 100% WFH right now, and will not consider a re-opening strategy until everyone is vaccinated). The candidate declared that they did not believe in vaccines, so we needed to allow her to be a permanent remote hire. I guess I’m glad about the dodged bullet, so there’s that.

Why has ghosting become so accepted in our industry? It’s one thing to have never made the connection, but ghosting an applicant after 2 or 3 rounds of interviews... Speaks volumes of the company and we need to do better.

Anyone ever get strung along on interviews for a month to either:
A. Get the position
B. Get turned down
C. Get Ghosted
