Question for my fellow consulting 🐠.. have a potential industry opportunity with a 20% salary increase. Allows me to be mostly local doing stuff I like with a boss I really love. Been with the firm for about a year and am doing decently well and actually enjoy my work and like my boss. That said, don’t covet the partner track but unsure whether the move within a year is a bad choice. Currently am a director and role is a senior director..long term see myself in industry..any thoughts?

Hi all, I’ve been the In-House Designer for an organization for the last 5+ years. Being the only designer and one of two marketing guys, I’ve had to do all tasks extensively.

I’m ready for my next adventure and I’m looking to advance to the Art Director position next.

Any advice on what I can do to make myself attractive to hiring managers as an Art Director?

If you switch between big 4, do you get blacklisted from the big 4 you left? Say you left as an senior for a manager position. Would you be eligible for rehire as director 3-4 years later at your original firm? Do your previous colleagues feel like you’re a sell out? Do people judge you or feel like you’ve abandoned the firm? Deciding if I should jump ship after 2 years for title and salary bump. Thanks!

Got promoted in June and was doing senior work for one project. Got staffed to another project recently and director&manager labelled me as associate in trackers. Just wondering if this is normal since I felt like that means I’m not good enough for the senior role 😅

Attended interview for a role at PWC and after director round of interview, I was called by recruiter to tell me that interview was positive but there is no definitive answer since they are looking for more senior role and also they may shift resources internally and that there may be chance in the future. Not sure what is happening here but let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Is it looked down upon to ask the recruiter who set up this interview what kinds of questions I may be asked? I want to prepare as best I can but have no idea what kinds of questions I may be asked

Has a company ever withdrew an agreed verbal or written compensation only to offer you a lower salary?

So I get a call from a Deloitte recruiter about an ERP implementation manager position. I interview with 2 SM and 1 Managing Director. The interview went well and recruiter gave me a verbal offer that was lower than my range, we go back and forth and then we finally agreed on salary, signing bonus and start date. Recruiter gets the Managing Director approval and comes back to me saying...

How easy is it to switch between Corporate Strategy industry roles at different companies? Hired as a SM with 6-7 YOE @ 160K all in, which was a decent bump at the time. Not sure if it’s better to stick it out for another 1-2 years to hit a Director-level position or if I should start hunting for these magical FAANG / Tech CS roles that pay so well 😭. Any perspective appreciated.

I have over 20 yoe, mba, ms, was a director with B4 and don’t get excited about low base salary. I am looking for a role at L8 level and not really sure if they are posted on the site.

Hi fishies 🐠 I’m an Art Director that’s trying to transition over to UX Design. I have experience building websites and some previous freelance work doing some UI/UX. What’s the best route to transition over and would I need to apply for entry level roles? Does an AD role with a UI/UX focus even exist? I enjoy the thinking of UX design and am comfortable designing interfaces but I’m mostly unsure of the process of working with an UX team. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Been an art director for 12 months but grown in my role significantly & my boss told me my next promo was “political”. I’m managing well over 1.5M a year, 9 brands. Functioning with little to no oversight on a day-to-day basis, w/ only strategy checkins with my CD. 100% client facing. I’m managing 1 direct report and from 2-8 copy and art freelancers at any time. I feel like all my stretch goals are ACD focused. Yet still need SAD before ACD. Does this sound like an art director? Pharma agency.

If you are working in S&O for a large tech company (think Shopify/LinkedIn) would you try to join a fast growing startup for a director of ops/finance role or try to lateral into a similar S&O role in FAANG?

Will an MBA set me apart? I have a BS in Marketing from top 15 undergraduate business program with a 3.8 gpa, 2 years work experience (3 by the time I’d enroll), and scored in the 63rd percentile on the gmat. This qualifies me for an average business school (ranked below ~50). My goal is to move into a management position within the next 5 years and eventually move into a director or c-suite role.
