I'm frustrated. Everywhere I've worked I've gotten great reviews and even leadership awards. At my last company my boss was promoted to CAO. She hired a director but made her VP of HR at hire due to someone leaving. VP ran 6 HR directors out of the co (we all left without jobs lined up). After I left my team quit & the CAO was fired. Now they promoted this VP to a Sr VP. I gave so much, got nothing, yet she fell into SVP. I have a new Director level job. How do I break into the VP level?

tips on keeping up w/ extrovert peers & staying visible to leadership?
No autonomy in HR. Dept of 3. Top HR is myself and Talent “Head”. Both of us report into CFO. Everything I and Head of Talent do that has to do with money (and just about everything else) We have to get “approval” from CFO. I mean things like whether I write someone up to whether I can pay out 3 earned vacation days to a term employee who took took the time right before they termed BUT worked. So, airing on side of caution, I paid it out without seeking approval. How is it for you?
Has anyone self- trained for SPHR or SHRM? Without purchasing the SHRM study guide? How did you decide between SPHR or SHRM SCP?
I am considering Customer Success based on my experience maximizing current accounts. However I am assuming I am potentially underselling or belittling what that role consists of. My understanding is, essentially take the typical expectations of a AE and remove the Net New aspects. Your primary goals are to retain and expand.
That is my understanding, without being offensive, is it that simple?
My husband does not have a degree but immense sales experience. He has been in sales in the food and beverage industry for about 10 years now and wants to get into tech. I am in tech and have a degree so unsure if he needs a degree to get a sales role? So many places are quick to turn away great candidates because of schooling even if their experience surely qualifies them. Anyone have experience or know if their company requires a BA for sales roles?
I’ve been in my current position (Bookkeeper) for 4 years now. I’m highly interested in taking the PHR, and I’m wondering if I would qualify for the 4 year HR professional job requirement to be eligible to test for the certificate. I work for a small business, therefore I do all the on boarding paperwork/payroll. Any advice is appreciated.
Anyone worked at / heard of the AE experience at Brandwatch? A friend is looking to make the move there and I want to be able to give him some insights so he can make a smart decision if anyone has info
Anyone willing to share some best resources (books, podcasts, etc) for imposture syndrome? For awareness, I am a white women in HR. Always struggled with confidence but experienced some brutal/toxic management with my HR role with a bad business partner (now in a new role), and I am continuing to struggle with my confidence. Appreciate resources that are “self-help”. Also considering a therapist but hoping to also own the process myself for quicker “recovery”. TIA!
HR/LEGAL HELP: I work for a multi-state remote employer. I am doing a classification study of sorts and believe that we may have to reclassify some positions. The impact is moving exempt and salaried positions to non-exempt. This has caused us to consider what states we are/should be hiring from. Any issues with excluding candidates from certain states that may have more stringent pay laws? Appreciate your help!
We have pictures of what helps our employees and what can prevent burnout. Problem is that burnout, like appreciation, is a personal things. We have seen companies and CEOs think they are giving great benefits, but they are things no one wants and that won't help reduce burnout of employees or help retain employees.
I've been at the same company for 15+ years and am having a hard time getting even an interview! I have the numbers and promotions (currently Sales Director) on my resume to prove I'm a valuable contributing member of my company. I've almost left a couple of times but each time the company I'm with promotes me or pays me more to stay. We're at a point where it's about a new challenge for me but my tenure is seen as a negative apparently. Any advice out there for this old dog?
Thoughts on PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP certs? I have approximately 9 years of HR exp and my bachelors and MBA. Been debating on whether or not I need to fulfill my urge to get a certification. Wanted to get some thoughts around whether you have a similar background and opted to or opted to not get their certification? Thanks!

Recruiters!! Is reaching out to the recruiter who organised the interviews after a few days (since no feedback was given as of yet) a sign of desperation? And would that affect salary negotiations? Asking for a friend !
Any Sales Leaders doing any of the following with their sales teams?
- Entering a new market.
- Entering an old market with a new product.
- Trying to focus sales efforts onto one objective.
I’m putting together a beta program that was successful for my current company and I want to see if it will help other leaders.

Second grade science ideas?
I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?
Any book recommendations?
Met with partner and law clerk "associate-to-be" to discuss work to be done on a specific matter. Partner issued each of us specific tasks. One week later, the law clerk wants to discuss tasks and what needs to be done. Appears to me the clerk is going to shift his tasks onto me. Advice appreciated.

I just heard a couple of days ago that an employee was fired by HR for booking a first class ticket that was *approved* by their direct management. The employee was required to make a trip for a work function that involved C-levels and others from their department in a team building type of event. The employee spent their own money to make this, and to boot is a single mom.
Is it me or does this seem insanely unfair and out of left field? How does management not get in trouble??
How are people shown the backdoor? Is it when you have check ins after your review? Is one check in after a review too many?

Anyone know why AlixPartners is the only firm that doesn’t seem to have any active job postings for M&A or restructuring, while all the other firms out there are hiring like crazy?
