Yeah, try not to pull them out. Highlights (or lowlights) def help, or even a semi-permanent color will blend. As far as diet, healthy fats (omega-3) and greens help and you can take biotin, collagen, and copper. (If you take zinc, it can deplete copper, so you might need to get your minerals back in balance.) Also massage your scalp to get the circulation going—relaxes you too! (I’m a hairstylist, FYI) Best of luck!
Don’t pull out your hair. Just get some highlights to help hide.
Have you seen a doctor about your thinning hair? It’s more than likely caused by an underlining medical issue. Definitely seek guidance from a hair dresser about the best way to cover your grays. Stop pulling them out.
Don’t pull them! Get a complete blood panel. I was severely anemic and didn’t know it and lost a bunch of hair. It took a while but it grew back. See a therapist (easier said than done I realize) and take some vitamins, especially biotin and a multivitamin.
You can actually slow it down if you take control of your health. I started graying in my mid 20s and am now in my mid 30s, sadly my mom even jokes about how I have more grays than her so I started fighting it recently. I’ve focused mostly on nutrition and supplements because I was deficient in many vitamins per blood tests. I’ve seen a difference within a short period of time by doing the following: 1) Got Arey vitamins (selenium really did wonders for me, and you can eat sunflower seeds often if you don’t want to take capsules), I also use their serum though I’m not consistent with it 2) Take multivitamins (high concentration of vitamin d3, b vitamins), I use the brand Vitamin Code 3) Use coconut oil more often, massage the oil 4) sleep more / reduce stress. I also use natural dyes (henna + indigo) to blend it in and stay away from chemicals. People say you can’t do anything about it but I’ve discovered that when it’s premature, it’s mostly a deficiency in important minerals. It’s worth a try!
^Never pull them out. For thinning, increase your protein intake, implement a consistent exercise routine, and try vital proteins collagen peptides. Our hair and nails usually tell us a lot about what’s going on inside our bodies. You can also try doing a parasite detox with herbs like cloves, black seeds, black walnut, wormwood, etc but do a lot of research or consult an naturopathic doctor.
You’re welcome! This explains a lot, zinc/copper/B12 are other big ones too. So looks like you need to really focus on getting your minerals up in general for overall health. Clean food, herbs, and supplements will get you back on the right track. Trace minerals is also another great brand that can be found in Whole Foods, I love their magnesium (great for before bed).
Hair thinning can be related to not getting enough protein in your diet and grey can be exacerbated by stress. I started getting grey in my mid-20s and it’s about 15% of my new growth now. I get my hair professional colored every 8 weeks to touch up the roots. Other than that I’m just gentle with my hair, always use a detangling/leave in conditioner before brushing, use a heat protectant before heat styling (and hold a hair dryer at least 5 inches away). There are tons of supplements and vitamins on the market for hair growth. Check out Helen Reavey on Instagram she gives good hair advice. There are also many sub reddits dedicated to healthy hair and influencers with their own tips and tricks.
It would be a good idea for you to get a blood panel to establish a baseline, your OBGYN can do it at your annual if you ask. You can also see a dermatologist for the hair loss.
I’m close to your age and am also getting gray hairs 😬. Got my hair highlighted to hide them. Nobody looks twice if females color their hair. Don’t pull them out.
As far as hair thinning though - agree there could be some underlying condition, hormonal imbalance, etc there. Seek some professional guidance!
I did recently learn that hair transplants are super cheap in Turkey. Male friend just got that done there.
Sorry you’re dealing with this. Have you sought help for your mental health?
Regarding the grey - I like to refer to them as my natural highlights! 🙃 I started to pull mine and think more grew in.
