I never have had any personal appointments where I’m currently working at. I would also have to assume it would be nice to be familiar with the place, knowing exactly where to go and how to get around! But kind of awkward to know everybody and see them the next day.

I did when I worked for Kaiser but it is huge and you can pretty easily avoid seeing your colleagues

I dont have this either - though we do have a lab onsite. I think it is probably a mix of both. Depends on what you're being treated for!

I don't get care at the facility that I work. Once I was in a bad accident and when I checked into the ER I worked (I was supposed to work that day), my boss came to my room. She had talked to my physician who told her I could return to work or go home. Then proceeded to visit me, sit on my bed and tell me that. She crossed like 10,000 boundaries that day. I had very reduced sensation to my arm. Hindsight it was a workplace violation and a HIPPA violation on her and the providers part. They had no business discussing me and she had zero business visiting me.
You're totally correct that they should not have talked about you. Your physician is more in the wrong than your boss is. It was his/her job to keep your medical condition private. I had a similar situation years ago when I was working for an Orthopedic Surgeon. I broke my ankle in a fall over the lunch hour and when I was taken to ER, I ASKED for my boss to be called to the ER. I personally felt safer, more confident, with him than I would have with someone I didn't know.
I make sure that I do not follow up or have any appointments where I work that to me can be sticky and awkward. I don’t want anyone knowing my personal medical history where I work.
Depends on the co workers and the previous chart notes/issues/meds etc! Cancer is sensitive and sometimes easier dealt with out of your healthcare circle!
