^but I'll be rewarded with an "acting senior" position HA lucky me?
Staff? Senior? Prior experience? Kill it next year and you'll get promoted. 3 rating is standard for someone only at the firm for 6 month.
3 is by far the most common rating and means you're tracking for your level. Being at the company for only 6 months means you couldn't get any higher rating because it's not a long enough time period. I wouldn't lose sleep over it because getting a 4 or 5 is all politics and they don't give them out all too much.
The rating system is bullshit.. Starting to lose my faith in the firm.
Try to set up lunch and learns, EY presents or local office "extra" stuff that could add value and then smear that shit all over your self review. Oh also meet your metrics. That extra stuff is what matters the most.
I'd be more focused on what it takes to get to a 2 before I'd be focused on a promotion.
3 is the norm don't worry
I got an early promotion as a 3. A three is not a punishment. Well if they tell you you were a 4 but failed for time sheets or something then maybe beat yourself up over it.
I know a 4 who didn't get promo, and a 3 who did in the same year.
You're fine
They give you a 3 and then hope you'll be motivated enough to work at the level above you in the hopes you might get that 4. Over it.
EY9 said it pretty well. All that client and metrics stuff is expected and everyone does it. Also, just to spell it out....the vast majority, probably all of us, are 'acting senior' before they get the title. That's been true at PwC and EY, in my experience.
