My husband and I each had savings goals for our FIRE journey and I reached mine and left the workforce while he is still working toward his. We have a 7, 9, and 13 year old so yeah, it kinda just feels like I was promoted to SAHM... it actually works out because we were spending so much on childcare anyway that my husband is able to reach his goals a little bit faster.
Thanks! I’m actually still figuring it out really. I’ve spent a good chunk on wedding planning and traveling and spending time with family and friends. My upcoming main goals are to get to B1/B2 in one language I’ve been learning. And maybe A2 in another. And travel and preparing for a move out of country.

I FIRE’d when I was 37 with 2 kids below 3. My husband already retired a few years earlier to be the primary parent while I was still working. Now we’re both SAHP to 2 kids under 6.
There’s not as much free time compared to those who retired when their kids are in college / working, but one of the main reasons we retired early was to spend more quality time with our kids and parents.
We do still send them to school / daycare so that we have some free time while they’re at school to pursue hobbies / passion projects.
We also travel 4-6 months each year with our kids in Europe / UK and Asia which is becoming more and more fun now that they’re getting older and able to do more things.

Depends - on the non-travel months, we work out, play sports, do some volunteering work, pursue passion projects.
During travel months - depending on whether we’re near the sea or not, my husband will probably kite surf, do sports, explore different towns and activities.

I'm not a woman so cannot answer your question directly. But we are FIREd. One of the things that organically happen when you don't have to go in to work is childcare expenses go down to zero.
You should be dividing up all the work equitably. Gotta be intentional about assuming all default mom” responsibilities. It can be more overwhelming than working.
My spouse was working a for a company that decided to move out of California. She had a very good person with nationwide responsibilities, but decide not to move to support her husband career. She tried two other companies, and got severely ill, and we were tight on funds. We made some adjustments so that we can live off my pay check, the higher earner, and allowed her to take care of her mom, and figure out what to find her passion. She discovered Real Estate, and at the same time, the market crashed in 2007/2008, and discovered self directed IRA. We bought homes in the SF Bay Area on the cheap with the same high rents. Now, we are selling them at a 4 to 5 multiple each. Fortunately, we moved, and California cannot get access to our self directed IRA account.
