Has anyone considered making the move to the corporate world? I work in admin for my nonprofit right now so I make a decent amount (53k) my benefits are unbeatable. PTO & sick time PLUS self care days. Flexibility. Etc. the one thing we’re lacking is structure and honestly im burnt out and overwhelmed with my work load and I know I could be getting paid around 10-15k more for similar work. Anyone gone to corporate and regretted it? Loved it?

What are ways to get more vacation time?

I’m feeling a little suffocated with the standard two weeks with all my family events this year.

What length of vacation do you usually take? I’m a big fan of taking many 4 day weekends (instead of 1 or 2 longer vacays) but apparently those aren’t encouraged in the Big Law world?

I hit rock bottom (I mean it) and in 6 weeks I managed a vacation, landed a new job, found a great guy, and landed a bomb apartment. Everything can change at the drop of a hat - keep your chin up.

How supportive are your companies when it comes to taking PTO for mental health days?

What holiday party did you get?
Anyone living close to an office, got a holiday party with food and drinks, and the venue started open for them until around midnight. Our remote workers got a one hour party w a DJ and trivia that let you win gift cards. Yeah it was nice to win a gift card but I found it lame in comparison to hanging out with my team in real life.

Does ZS roll over unused PTO from one year to the next? How do people make it work with just 15 days at first?

Vacation almost all on points. Plane and hotel covered. Suggestions for car rental? Not many Enterprise/Hertz points. Ik it's not the best transfer rate, but I have plenty of Chase points.

I'm 6 months old at D! Planning early promotion next year.. counselor and pm both are backing me.. I need to go to India for at least 4 weeks in Dec ... most probably would be rolling off from current project by then .. would this vacation hurt my promotion chances coz of utilization etc?

Question for BAH - are you able to expense taxi/uber for after hour safety from your holiday event to home? I know most companies let you and so does Deloitte. Asking for a Booz friend.

If you were in a private company assistant controller position being offered $10k more to switch over to public and much better PTO days and fully remote as opposed to an in office position that I’m currently at in a Real estate growing company. Would u do the switch back to public (left public just recently)?

Considering a move to NTT Data in a healthcare consulting role. Mixed reviews in the bowls. Major concerns are bench policy, staff aug roles, 2 week PTO, and high turnover due to job dissatisfaction. First trimester insomnia?
I’m only about 5 weeks, but my sleep schedule has gone off the rail the last three nights. I’m sleepy/drowsy, settled in bed around the same time every night, and yet I cannot fall or stay asleep. I have a white noise machine, comfy bed, cool room.. etc. When I do fall asleep, it’s earlier in the morning and I sleep until 1/1:30pm. This was fine the first few nights since it was the weekend, but it can’t keep up. Anyone else experience this and have any recommendations?

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? I have 17 years of experience and have an offer from EY GDS for role "Senior Managing Consultant" (Rank 32) under Technology Consulting.

Most of my experience is with Solution/Technical Architecture in the Telecom, Media and Energy & Utilities domain.

I would like to understand if EY GDS assignments are allocated taking into consideration one's domain expertise also or is it like an open field where any kind of business has to be learnt within short time as part of consulting ?

My last therapist keeps coming up in my mind. I left her when I moved to a new area before COVID dug in and frankly it felt like leaving a girlfriend. She also disclosed in the final session that she was a member of AA and knew several of the people I occasionally discussed from the rooms. Her knowledge of the program certainly built trust with me early on, but it has been two years. I discussed it with my current therapist but she’s still in there. Any advice?

Has anyone else noticed they’re stressed without “feeling” stressed? I don’t feel as stressed as when I was in college. However, I’m still on the job hunt and I think stress is manifesting itself without me realizing it. My skin is showing really bad acne, I feel unmotivated even to fill out job applications; I’m having trouble falling asleep at night and even though I sleep past noon sometimes I still feel tired during the day... I started a new job recently and then had my PTSD seriously triggered, plus a panic attack. Felt so on edge and low on emotional resources for over a week that I wasn’t myself and apparently really rubbed a few people the wrong way so I was called in for a talking to 😣. I let people know there were some personal things going on, but didn’t mention the PTSD—very unsure if that’s something to share, or if I’d be judged for it or... I don’t even know. Has anyone else dealt with PTSD and had it impact them at work, and how did you handle it?

Struggling with identity now that I’ve finally, truly accepted depression/anxiety are medical conditions I need meds for. I love who I am on meds, but I hate feeling like that isn’t “the real me."
