How long does everyone suggest studying for SHRM-CP? Recently registered for the Dec - Feb testing window and haven’t started studying yet. I’m a pretty good studier / test taker but just want to gauge how much time should be put in pre-exam?

I gave myself a solid 3 months. I passed in January 2022 and had 4 YOE at the time. But experience IMO honestly isn’t applicable to the test. I would sHalf the challenge is understanding the way the test questions are written and dissecting them for what’s being asked. Here’s a useful resource I used along with purchasing the SHRM learning system. Look at the breakdown of diffewrent types of questions: https://www.reddit.com/r/humanresources/comments/i8qdhh/passed_shrmcp_exam_via_remote_wanted_to_share/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

This is a really helpful link. THank you for sharing this. I am also studying and really wasn't sure how long to study for and what to spend time studying. I am so glad you posted this! Thank you so much.

I'd say you have plenty of time, especially if you're looking to ultimately take the test in the latter portion of that window. Plenty of practice resources out there online.

I think there is no specific timeline for this. You are good as long as you have sufficient time to cover all the important topics. You can also do some exercises.

For example, a software company issues its own certification that its partners enforce as a requirement to work in the industry by searching that software's website for ensure applicants have certification. To legally recommend who can work, a Hiring Hall is required to be certified by the majority of workers in construction or garment industries. How is software certs able to avoid this law?

I slightly dropped my MacBook and apparently (slightly) damaged the keyboard and trackpad as per service Center. I don’t see any visible damage to the system but that’s what they say and are charging me about 28k for this even though my system is in warranty period (will complete a year in a few days). Are there any workaround for this? Like I can use external keyboard or maybe negotiate, anything else?

Pretty sure the saga of the slave driven company has come to an end I’m the only HR person at this company. Friday I had full admin rights, and went to check email Saturday; account locked. Payroll/HRIS locked out. PEO service says no pending termination is on my file. Went to the office today to get my things just in case. Located in CA. Was about to report numerous violations too. All because I couldn’t solve 8 months of payroll issues in a day. 🫠 Good riddance, I’m getting a lawyer.

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?
