I decided to close down 3 of my oldest credit cards. Had them when I was 18 so they were almost 20 years old. Used them to build credit but got myself into a lot of cc debt instead. Lol

it’s been over 2 months and I was wondering if my credit score will take a hit later?

They were paid off 100% before I closed them, I have a good mix of other credit line, I have 0-1% credit usage, and a debit to income ratio of 26%

Yes it will take a hit. You’re losing a lot of average time. It also shouldn’t take 2 months to reflect

Depends what other cards/credit you have.
If you have several others that are also old then your average credit age may not have taken a bit hit.

Also possible that some of them were in dormant status, given you don’t have be be a big credit user any more.

I primarily use my AMEX and that’s paid off monthly so that’s my utilization is low. My next oldest card is from 2010

I have my mortgage, car, student loan, and 7 total Credit cards

Did they have any annual fees? I’m curious as to why you closed them.

That makes sense. Even though closing the cards removes them from your utilization, you may still retain a portion of the history since you closed them in good standing.

For context, I also have a good pension. My main concern is that while the RRSP will be nice to lower my taxable income now, I'm worried when I retire I'll have to withdraw too much from both the RRSP and pension. Thoughts?

Well I guess my holdings are never going back up in value

Looking to get an Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti sometime this year. Brand new the MSRP is about 45K and despite the reputation of the old Alfa Romeo’s from the 90’s these seem to be night and day more reliable. I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage.

I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest.

Anything wrong with this thinking or anything else I should consider?

Currently maxed Roth 401k, Roth IRA, HSA, and ESPP at 23 YO, should I consider an after-tax conversion? I’ve read about back-door Roths but I’m still far below the income limit as an analyst. Definitely looking into early-ish retirement, should I just invest the rest in a regular brokerage account until I reach the income limit? Am I even allowed to do a conversion? Any advice is helpful :)

Is there an easy/efficient way to figure out how much you've contributed to vs earned in your Roth accounts? I started contributing >20 years ago to my employer's Roth 401k and have rolled it over to a Roth IRA and moved it between multiple custodians, e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard, UBS, Personal Capital, etc. It is unclear to me how much I contributed vs how much I earned by investing it.
