Im in a similar boat, my 23 years in the Air Force and countless applications have me wondering if anyone is interested in my skillset in the civilian world. Don't give up, something that fits you will come soon. Stay positive and keep being a person that other people want to be around. Your time will come and it will be the right fit.
Washington is rough for defense unless you make boats or want to work for Boeing. Lot of tech companies out there, but I feel like they take anyone from defense and throw their apps away.
It's a rough time finding new jobs, and I am sure it will work out, what branch are you in? I am doing the same but it's even harder for me I am trying to work in the US from the UK on a H1B visa but being in the UK Navy for a job in country that has one of the world's largest is a but nutts.
What I have been told on my resume is de militarization try and make it fit civvy street better. So I have made 3 resumes depending on the area I am looking at
I applied for security Guard in many place but they say you are not from hear so i am from Nepal so can't I give my job application to some company who can hire me I have 17 years of Military experience.
Have patience and move out of WA. A pretty as it is, many other places where a similar salary goes further without giving up QOL. You might be narrowing your search too much. If looking for a GS job, consider something else that gets you “in” then move after a year or so.
There’s a lot more opportunity with your background than most realize. There’s a lot of factors that may influence your experience such as resume, education etc. There are certifications that can help set you apart (CSCP, CLTD, CPIM). I did 10 years of Air Force logistics and I’m in Washington as well. It’s not cheap here.
