I started at 100 with a PhD, and know another at 110 in NYC. However, we came in at senior 1. The issue is we don’t know anything about the subject/field. They used to make advanced degrees managers. Then seniors, and now staff 2 is more common. So >100k as a staff is possible, though highly unlikely.
This is not that incredible based on the education.
I on the other hand heard that Santa Claus really exist
Lying - unless he has a JD, MBA and PhD
JD/LLM/MBA
That’s almost low for that many years of school depending on ranking
Okay guys - Let’s not focus on Big Law or what we think people should earn, does anyone actually know someone who made $120k as a staff 1 in public accounting?
Thanks, senior manager 1, this is helpful.

It’s true. I’m a SALT staff 2 at $110k in LCOL

I know of ITS Staff 2 being hired at 120k out of law school. NYC.
JD?
Not lying. I have heard $100k but with your law degree.
You are welcome!!!
For reference, JDs from top 14 law schools and big law firms start at 190k. So yea I agree with D1’s comment about being underpaid depending on school ranking
True. Generally, the lower the rank of the school the higher you’ll need to graduate in your class in order to have a shot at big law
JD/LLM in M&A tax/TTA. I started at 115K, now make 162K, and they have subsequently bumped starting pay now (maybe 125K base?). So it’s definitely possible it’s real.
162k as a senior makes sense. I’m a third year CPA in specialty tax with a MST only and I’m at 140k. The salaries outside compliance and especially for those of us with prior work experience can be a lot higher. Compliance is just super underpaid.
JD/LLM start at 6 figures. More in they're in SaT/TT. Definitely doable.
