I miscalculated my 401k contributions this year, anything I can do to make up the difference? It had X% based in my salary but forgot to update the salary in Vanguard to my current salary. I set it and definitely forgot about it 🥲

I don’t think you can. Next year, set it to well above x% to max out earlier in the year.

Before doing this, make sure your firm doesn’t stop its match when you stop contributing, or you will miss out on the free match.

Did you over contribute?

I work in payroll. How many more checks do you have coming this year? If it's at least one you need to call both the fund admin and your HR benefits coordiator and put in a flat amt to make up the differerence. Every company can run an off cycle payroll to accomodate these kinds of adjustments, but you need to act fast. Get on the phone AsAp

Hi Sharks
I am 25 years old with in hand salary of 1L(just from last month) and i want to buy a term insurance plan. My questions are:
1. Is it wise to take 2 plans of term insurance one with return of 60 years and another without return of 80 years of each 1cr.
2. Is it wise to include health riders in insurance plan to claim for 80d or just chose health insu
3. How much one can ideally shell out for insurance per month (both term and health) for self in terms of percentage of monthly income.

Is anyone concerned the push for sexual equality in pay without accordant leveling of parental leave is gonna backfire?

Here’s a hypothetical:

A company has 2 candidates, aged 25-30, equal in every respect save one’s a man the other’s a woman. Maybe the woman is a slightly better candidate overall. They’d have equal comp.

Company considers the woman a riskier bet due to possibility she’ll take maternity leave — and considers the man less risky for his ineligibility to take as much leave. 🤷

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.

helpful

SO and I are debating contributing to 401k this year since the rate of return is around -11% on our portfolios this year. I believe it would be better off saving the cash in my account.

I'm thinking of contributing again when/if the market picks up next year. Thoughts?
