I need some advise. 2 years ago( when I turned 33) I realized my energy level is going down at a faster rate everyday then I have ever experienced. I had my doctor do yearly different tests and everything is normal. I try to work out at least 2 times a week and take vitamins D and B12. I am getting fatigue and feeling weak, unable to accomplish my tasks sometimes (not depressed). I am losing the sense of consistency. Anything anybody would recommend to do or take?

Just keep consistent with the vitamins, I have been through this as well and we are approximately the same age. It may mean you need more hours of sleep and to change your diet to something healthier that gives you more energy without the fattening aspect of it or too sweet. Keep on striving to be your best teacher self! It means you care a lot and sometimes when you care too much for your profession, your body takes a toll. May your health improve as soon as possible!

Did you check your iron (hemoglobin) levels? Maybe you are anemic?

like

Use a stool softener any time you take iron. It does this to pretty much everyone who has to take iron.

Keep working with your doctor until you find the culprit. Take a lot of time for you. Make sure you are sleeping with a regular schedule.

Thyroid issues?

My blood test doesn't indicate any thyroid issues.

My B12 is sublingual, on my doctor's directions.

Get a Vit B SHOT, not pills. Also if you are a woman get your hormones checked - at 35ish they could be getting wonky on you.

Never thought of that. My next doctor visit will mention it

Have they checked your thryroid antibodies ?

Not sure. Will definetly ask about it. Thank you!

Thank you everyone for the comments.

de Blaiso says we’re on track to hit orange zone of restrictions post Thanksgiving which means no more indoor dining among other things.

The metric they are using is % positivity rate.

My question is this - is this a fair metric and if not what is a better metric to compare if it’s getting worse and we need social controls?

I only got tested when I traveled out of state for wedding and thought I was at a high(er) risk for exposure. Tested positive but I was already expecting that. (Contd)

Any tips for organizing a bedroom, closet, dresser & bathroom? My teen has IADHD, and low executive functioning. Her room looks like a land mine. Clean clothes are mixed in with dirty, her desk is a disaster, she won’t let go of clothes she’s outgrown, drawers are open with clothes hanging out. A therapist said to close her door if we don’t want to see it but it’s more than that. She needs this important life skill & I don’t know how to help. Easier to organize w/o her but that’s not a solution.

Had this question pop up a lot recently - discussed here many times before, but want to see if we can quantify the discussion a bit. Let’s assume the vaccine is at 70% shots in arms by 4th of July (‘21), and 80-85% by Labor Day. In 2022, are we back to 3/4/5, or do you think parts of the remote culture will stick going forward?

I’ve made it 5+ years in a NY M&A practice and have consistent exceeding expectations reviews. I’ve had a few mental breakdowns because of work during this time, but thankfully made it through. I’ve been in a near constant depressive/anxious state for family reasons for the last year and half, and am soon having my first kid. I’m scared shitless that I’ll spiral out of control both at work and at home if something doesn’t change soon. Any suggestions on how to keep this job and keep it together?

I remember how excited he was to meet his behavior goal for the first time.

I was hoping to see him in 2 years at the HS.

Subs! Internal subbing is draining the life out of teachers. The sub schedule comes out at the last minute bc of so many teacher absences. It’s the split classes in one period (1/2 Gen Ed and a Special Ed class) Teachers on a cart. Subs pick up students and deliver students. Class changeovers take 10 minutes bc of the domino effect. We’re all waiting for next sub. Teachers are late for their own classes. Students are in chaos with rotating subs. We pay $100 a day. Is the Solution in plain sight?

I’m concerned about the surge in omicron. I packed everything, just in case. Q2 is ending, a new quarter is starting. We get new kids each quarter as a Specials teacher.
It’s stressful at quarter changeovers.
In going back after break, it’s too much of a contrast. I cannot sleep, I wake up in the middle of the night, “for the day”, about 6 nights a week. To stay structured, I go to “Surrender yoga” daily. I’m good to go do 1 more thing after yoga. I feel accomplished. Couching causes anxiety.
