I’m currently a hr specialist and have 3-4 years experience in hr with 10 years fully admin. I’m now level 7 cipd qualified with a masters in HR and struggling to get into a hr manager role as I’m way overqualified for the role I’m in now. How hard is to break into manager role?

I'm assuming there's no chance of internal movement since you've increased your qualifications and they still have you in your current role. It might make things easier to focus on networking, especially with any people you met along the way earning your master's and getting cipd qualified. These people know your dedication and are likely to put in a good word for you to counterbalance your resume.

Hi Everyone, need some advice. The only reason why I took my current role is because my direct supervisor would be a black woman VP- I was obviously excited because I've never worked with another black woman before. She's been out on maternity leave since September and I've had to cover her role and do my job, which is two levels above mine and supervising someone above my level. Yesterday the SVP tells me they found a new VP (ww) who would be my new boss.

I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

Saw this and thought it was a pretty good explanation for company culture: Culture is not what you write down. It's what people tell their friends who ask what it's like to work there. It's what people compare to when they get pings from recruiters. It's how people feel when they log on and off for the day.
