I’m currently a hr specialist and have 3-4 years experience in hr with 10 years fully admin. I’m now level 7 cipd qualified with a masters in HR and struggling to get into a hr manager role as I’m way overqualified for the role I’m in now. How hard is to break into manager role?

I'm assuming there's no chance of internal movement since you've increased your qualifications and they still have you in your current role. It might make things easier to focus on networking, especially with any people you met along the way earning your master's and getting cipd qualified. These people know your dedication and are likely to put in a good word for you to counterbalance your resume.

Hi Everyone.

I’ve said this before and this is reminder to myself as well. What we say, like, comment, and share on FB or other social platform can hurt our job search, promotions or even our employment status.

I pulled a candidate for screening and due to the complexity of the role, I shared the candidates resume with the HM prior to screening. The HM immediately found the candidate on FB and the first thing he saw was a PUBLIC post the candidate wrote going on full attack

I will be looking to leave anyways, but I would like to not be in this position again in the future- what signs do you look for when interviewing that it will be a good fit culturally? I felt like overall I felt good vibes at my current role so I’m having a hard time trusting my gut.

Applied to Google for a couple of roles and got a call from a recruiter for a strategy role. Thought this was odd since strategy isn't exactly what I wrote my resume for. Already offered at Amazon for a deep learning role with 25% more pay (i.e., Google Strategy would pay less).

In general, what's the smart play here? Can I continue to focus on technical work and pivot to strategy later when I want to? I feel like I can work to ensure my tech skills are top tier, and when needed, do...

Last week, I've voluntarily put in some overtime to craft an amazing project I am working on. For the love of the project, and because I feel it will be good for my career. It led to an insane lecture about my work ethic. Is that person right? Should I feel guilty about doing that?

I am a Senior People (HR) Business Partner working in NYC under an H-1B visa (9 years of experience). I am looking for something new, but I am finding it extremely difficult to find a company who would support an H-1B Change of Employer (COE). I’ve noticed in the past year no upper management guidance or vision. I work within a division and no town hall meetings, no communications from upper management and when they are in its “sorry we’ll talk about it next time” many of my peers in other business functions have said the same and the region leaders have also made similar comments about where are we going and what’s next. Constantly it’s been getting pushed to me to communicate but I have nothing since information is low. Common now?

Hi! My friend works as a recruiter for a recruiting agency, and he told me the company will let recruiters “pay debt”. So each month that you don’t close any deal, you get paid for your base salary, then you are also on debt. Once you close a deal for example 3 months later, then you have to pay your salary back for those 3 months that you did not close any deal. And also the Inmail fee on LinkedIn will be deducted from the commission too. Is this normal in recruiting agencies?
