I can't imagine having to return to a CSR job after having 30 years of work experience.. I feel for you. CSR isn't so bad though, really. I'm pretty young so it's kind of all I know, but I guess the best tip I have for you is to just practice your script a lot so it feel natural and then try to be personable/friendly with people. People are so used to scammers these days that they can be short on the phones but if you are real with them, you'll find ways to break through the barrier
Thank you for the tips and support! This will be a total different world for me.
I think you'll do a great job, my team has embraced people from all types of career backgrounds and I've seen all types of people be successful in CSR roles. Biggest phone tip is just be confident, pretend that you are calling a friend. The confidence will show through in your voice
Thank you!! I’ve always been pretty good on the phones, but it’s also been from an account management standpoint. I hear people can kick off the call just being rude, or at least that’s what I’ve been reading. Do they give you scripts when total a$$holes call in? I don’t know how profession I can be with people who are totally out of line. I almost don’t want to use my real name 🙈.
It's hard at first, but you get kind of used to it. Just remind yourself not to take it personally - you are doing your best to help a customer. Also, you have to realize that you can only help some customers out to the extent of what they will allow you to do. Working from home used to help me because nobody could see me sighing or rolling my eyes lol.
LOL! Exactly! That’s what my husband keeps telling me. I think I’ll be ok, it’ll just be something new to get used to. Hoping it all works out.
