I started at a new company 2 months ago and while I’m really enjoying my job so far, I’m having a hard time gauging whether or not I’m doing a “good job.” My role seems to be always evolving, which is fine and I actually enjoy being a support to the greater marketing team, but I feel like I need better defined targets to make sure I’m meeting expectations. i am incredibly livid at the way my firm laid me off, claiming it was performance based when i know it was bc of some unrelated conversation about wanting to broaden my professional bandwidth. I had great reviews.. and those whose performances were below mine, have been promoted. I’ve had to hold my tongue, swallow my pride during my final call and play dumb even though i wanted to call them out on their bs. Trying to get over this but i hate feeling powerless and undermined

My parents got divorced 6 years ago and my dad kinda gave up on life. His American dream was to graduate with an actuary degree (which he did 2 years ago) and find a corporate job but it never happened...He gave up on life to a point that has no food and is behind rent because he doesn't want to get a $15 an hour job or a maintenance/painting job. He doesn't do drugs or alcohol and my wife is going to kill me if she finds out again that I gave him money again.

So I have been seeing a guy for 4 months. We have a pay disparity.. he earns less than I do (by quite a bit). He has mentioned a few times that he’s worried I’ll get bored of him when I know he can’t afford the same things I can. I think we are beginning to move past this, but now he’s starting to mention things like ‘I am really broke this month’, and last weekend he told me his mum has lost her job and he’ll have to probably pay her rent.
