Depends…do you love it or like it? It’s subjective to the individual
As a straight male, I am going to heart all of my male coworkers messages and report my findings.
Let’s escalate to winky emojis and then circle back.
I use them almost interchangeably. A heart means that I like something just a little bit more or there is a little more thought behind it because sometimes 👍 is used just as an acknowledgment that I received the message. I tend to read it the same way when my messages are responded to via emoji.

Only heart messages if they are above me in rank
Heart emoji if the person is a real cutie 🥰

Thumbs up unless I’m trying to start a workplace romance
I'm the overly friendly young female who just pretends I'm in a female-dominated space and uses frequent exclamation points and occasional smiley faces. I use both, but everyone on my team expects it and no one is dumb enough to think I'm flirting
I specifically heart anything from the opposite sex if they are director or above. It’s my retirement plan.
I do not follow any hard and fast rules. It does not matter to me the position of the person or their gender. I treat everyone the same.
It really depends on my mood. If I feel more euphoric that day I will heart more messages.
Generally a like unless it’s happy birthday or something then a heart
Directly related to the message, not the person. Really good news? Heart. Just informative? Thumbs up.
