My husband is taking the bar today. So nervous for him. It has been a rough few months. Send positive energy his way!

Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?

Anyone has an alternative to an Au Pair. Wife and I were looking forward to host an au pair but can’t go through the official program since we are not permanent residents yet. Anyone has an alternative besides traditional daycare? Maybe a friend of a friend? I am in NJ. Any ideas welcomed and needed!

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. Especially now mask mandates are being lifted feeling like we can’t go anywhere without risking our kid.

I made a mistake. I talked with the ex this morning. He said he misses me. And that while he walk talking to the other woman, he wished he was talking to me instead. And when he saw that I didn’t respond to his texts, he drank a shit ton. And then called this morning.

He’s not willing to commit to the other women because he’s not over me.

How do you know if you have good hygiene? my ex told me I don’t

This is my routine:
- I have curly hair, can only wash it once a week/put dry shampoo if needed
- I brush my teeth 2 times a day
- Wear deodorant / perfume every day (my way, and good girl) and shave off any hair (I did laser but still), as much as possible. Some days, I cannot keep up with shaving (especially if it won’t show)
- I wear pantyliners and change it once a day/ change panties once a day
- I shower my body every day

Anybody single in their late 30s / early 40s given up on marriage? How do you see your life progressing? What do you do day-to-day to cope with loneliness?

Question: Girl friends parents finally came over for a ristha. Everything went great or so I thought but now she wants to time to think about moving forward. The pain point she brought up is that we are in different states and she is feeling pressed. When did you know your firm wasn't right for you? I'm not sure if it's just the stress of being a new attorney with a family or if my job isn't the right fit. I work in civil litigation and am consistently below my billables. I can't stay late because my kids need me and I can't work on the weekends because I have to maintain my house and take care of my kids. I'm being constantly told to work harder, stay later, etc but it's not practical. Or am I not approaching this with the right mindset?

I've been a government attorney for nearly three years now and have worked in the same office/division since I passed the bar. I've yet to receive a promotion other than two cost of living increases (in sum, a pay increase of 6k over 3 years). I know this is meager, but I'm mostly ok with it, I just want to see some recognition. One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
