honestly, I encounter this a lot when sitting in an office. sort of feel like a caged animal / solitary confinement and not really much interaction. I start to hit a wall and my productivity goes way down so I end up just leaving the office when I notice I'm losing focus. would honestly just leave early - will prob make you feel better and hang in there (easier said than done)

if your office makes you feel like a caged animal, you need a new job. I feel like a King in mine, legs kicked up, taking calls, getting free food, high fives from coworkers and nice views of the city. beats being a student
Nobody can keep all the balls in the air all the time. Sometimes you just have to let yourself drop the ones that aren’t important. Hang in there.

You aren’t alone, this happens to a lot of lawyers. As you probably heard elsewhere, try to look for in house positions for a better grip on some work life balance. A big law career is not really worth a fractured marriage, missed time with kids, or a complete lack of social life imo.
Go into the office, turn on your computer, do mindless emails for about an hour, and go for a long walk (or some other out of the office activity). Take an hour. Walk and cry. Come back in, commit to 2-3 focused hours, and go home to keep working. Most firms don’t actually have fixed hours for their in-office mandates. Even if they do, you can “take lunch.”
You prob won’t get fired if you wfh more, may be worth it if your work quality is really dropping off that badly. Like they’re also gonna be mad about bad work
Unfortunately partner in charge of my group sent out a message to everyone in our group asking us to comply with policy. They come in too, so it would really be insubordination + look bad to not do so…
I’m so sorry that your personal life is in turmoil right now. That is so heavy and difficult, I understand. I would consider reaching out for accommodations if possible, such as a WFH arrangement, a reduced hours arrangement, etc.
